trial 4 afterPARTY
After the chaos of the trial and its aftermath, their tradition of the morbid "afterparty" almost seemed insulting... to everyone else, at least. Yasu is more than happy to provide.
The rest of the class might be drawn toward the cafeteria by the alluring scent of well-steeped black tea and baked goods. Inside, Yasu sips from her own cup, looking totaly composed by the tray of scones—sorry, everyone, cookies are a Kakuya-only privilege—and the teapot.
There are plates set out, too. Much more sophisticated than the mopey crackers, apples, and cheese everyone is used to.

[ Look, no one is okay. No one. Why pretend anyone is. ]

I'm jumping the fence. Don't try to convince me to stay. [He was trying to speak quickly in short sentences.] I'm setting up self-defense classes on Sunday so that anyone who wants to come with me can fight too. I can't fight everything out there alone.

[ He frowns... Thinking... ]
Look, I want to stay here as much as you are, but we can't just jump the fence without a proper game plan...
[ ... ]
I'm gonna try to hold a meeting on Sunday. Since everyone will be there, you can offer those self defense classes too, as well as help me keep stock of whatever weapons we happen to have. From there we can strategize how to deal with the monsters... See where we need to pick our fights. If we play our cards right, we might not have to face all of them at once.

[He let out a soft exhale through his nose.]
Guys like me, we have to put on a show and fake it because smart guys like you are so good at making it. I once said that to my brother Huey. And... it still rings true.

[ He's just gonna chill in here, he guesses. May as well spill his guts now that all the worst parts had been spilled into the open. ]
I mean... You remember what I said about doing shady things for my great aunt, right? Part of that was getting the dogs to trust me enough so they'd let me in their house to... You know. [ Shrug. He isn't gonna reiterate. ] I think that's why Dylan never fully trusted me, I already betrayed him once...
But you know what? I'm just gonna add that little incident to my ever growing pile of regrets.

I guess I never had a lot of regrets until I was here. At most it was... keep secrets that I should have told, miscommunication, all that jazz. Now my regrets are comprised of "Should I have talked more with this person before they were gone?" "Should I ever have trusted this person in the first place?" "I was a-" [He stopped himself from stating the last one. He wasn't going to fish for "oh you weren't that much of an asshole" remarks and stroke his ego. Instead...] "I should have acted better." But, dwelling won't fix anything.

But that last thing... ]
Yeah, it won't. That's why I'm trying to make up for everything I've done. If it means helping everyone regroup to face the evil fox doll, then so be it.
