[He wants to be angry. To hate Edward and just not care what happens. To be totally cool and dispassionate.
Like they were never buds in any way. He can’t pretend he’s not upset at the betrayal. There’s no way.
But he can’t pretend that voting for Edward is also ok. The Principal clearly didn’t give a hoot about reasons or how any of them felt.
So he won’t care about how the Principal feels. Instead, he simply crosses his arms and looks away.
He doesn’t look at Edward. He can’t now, not anymore.
But
he abstains.
