WEEK 3
WEEK THREE
Two weeks, two trials, four deaths.
One thing is certain: The monster in charge of this place knows enough about everyone here that he also knows what can drive some of them desperate enough to kill. He is powerful, and he has access, and he despises the whole student body. The face of the class' captor has been revealed now, in a sense, and the flames of his hatred for children have turned out to be very real.
At least, for now, the students of Ira Academy have one another to lean on. Some might have found the post-trial camaraderie a comfort. At least everyone hasn't given up hope. At least many students are still finding their anger and their will to fight back.
There are fewer pretenses this coming week. Classes proceed as normal; the school day still functions as normal, but the further everyone comes from that first fateful meeting with the man in charge of this school, the further away and more incomprehensible the thought that there was ever really a chance of going along with the original plan, completing reeducation, and staying safe.
...Of course, you could still try. There'd be nothing stopping you.
But you won't, will you? That's just how the students of Ira Academy are. You'll visit the third floor of the Academy, ascending the newly opened flight of stairs. Maybe you'll investigate one of the new rooms, dwarfed by the echoes that bounce of the uninvitingly tall ceilings. There's probably still something in this place on your side.
Will you work together, or will you grow further apart?

OOC NOTES
Welcome to Week 3! New locations have been added and the third floor is now open for exploration. The library is a very large space and more than one person can investigate it throughout the week if you'd like. If you want to investigate one of the Floor 3 rooms, please hit the mods with a ping in Discord and put INVESTIGATE in your subject line.
As a reminder, AC runs Sunday to Sunday concurrent with these posts and is collected based on the prior week; this means you have a whole week to get in AC for the week prior. AC for week 2 should be submitted no later than this coming Sunday. Remember to submit your regains, and sign up for a spot exploring this week's mystery if you want to!

[A little hopelessly optimistic but look it would be nice. Anyway, he's going to try to hang on to the railing while he ascends so he doesn't take the soap water express right back to the bottom of the stairs again.]

Can one of you carry Polly?
[She bends to scoop up the piglet and hand her over to either Kuro or Yuta, whoever is closer and willing to accept the burden.]

[ Her tone is sing-song, but her expression is more serious than that. Still, to demonstrate, she lifts a hand and twirls the blade within it, easy and nimble.
But, as they slosh their way up the stairs: ]
Last one to touch their nose has to be the bait!
[ She's already doing it, naturally. ]

[He'll scoop up the pig and then, hearing Kuro, hurriedly put his finger on his nose, still cradling the pig in his arms.]

Thank you!
[And then the as she sees the words "last one to touch their nose" come up, Emma is already reaching up to touch hers.]

There's no monster running around, no blood clinging to the ceiling and walls... but five out of six washing machines are running. Their large drums filled with enough frothy water you can't tell what's actually inside them. Some of the water is tinged red.
There's a lot of water sloshing about on the ground now, too, up to Valmont's knees. A malicious force seems to be coming from the last machine on the wall. It's not running and the door is open, almost beckoning Valmont to come closer. Caution might be needed here.]

[ And yet, refuse as he may, Valmont finds himself hustled into the laundry room by the other three, his protestations soundly ignored. And, uh. This is not what he would have chosen as his first personal laundry experience. ]
Is the water in these machines generally supposed to be red... do you think?
[ Maybe that's normal!! He can definitely cling to the hope that it's normal!!!
Then there's that last machine. Well. His uniform trousers are ruined anyway. Valmont slowly begins making his sloshy way toward its open door, ready to freeze or panic or get the hell out of there at the first sign of anything wrong. ...Anything else wrong. ]

In the end, though, nothing presents itself. Or, at least, nothing has crawled its way out of that final washing machine yet. ]
Nope~ Hey, Yuta— Looks like we found the blood after all!

[He was already questioning his life choices in running around in ankle-deep water carrying a pig, but Emma being so happy with it placated him - a little. But now he's just annoyed again.
Adjusting his grip to ensure the pig doesn't fall into the knee deep water, he follows at a bit of a distance figuring Emma would also want to prioritize pig safety here and also figuring Kuro can handle a fight if needed.]

[ Valmont, incredibly predictably, shrieks like a little girl and tries panickedly to yank his arm back from the washing machine's grip. ]
Get it off me, get it off me, get it off me -
[ Given the combination of his serious lack of physical strength and the difficulty of getting a foothold on the flooded floor, it's not a very successful attempt. Someone grab him, or else let him get eaten by the laundry ghost. Your choice :) ]

He takes a step back out of reflex, still holding the pig but twisting to put more of his body in the way of whatever the heck is going for Valmont.]

The water doesn't vanish but the washing machines all suddenly stop. They open, letting their contents out onto the laundry room floor slide out. There are two things that probably catch your eye. A soggy playing card and...
Is that a person?]

[ Kuro grins, triumphant, and she has about as long as it takes to call out those taunting words to enjoy her victory. She plants her feet firmly in front of... wherever Valmont has probably crashed into the water, already primed to defend against a second pass from his invisible assailant.
When the washing machines stop, though, her gaze turns toward them, half-expecting more enemies to lurch their way out. What greets her instead is— ]
Hold on, who is—?
no subject
It's - oh lord - we're going to need another trial, aren't we...
no subject
[Though he is going to get a little closer to see if the body's something or someone who can be ID'd.]
no subject
Maybe it's not real? [She tries to move forward, even with Valmont still clinging to her.]
no subject
There is no mistake. Nanami Kiryuu is alive.]
no subject
[ Automatically, Kuro rushes for her. She only seems to realize a second later that she still, you know, has swords in her hands with nowhere to put them. So, of course, she does what anyone in this situation would do: ]
Valmont— Help her up, quick!
no subject
[ Look at him. Look at his bruises. He is Dying over here. But, sensing the likelihood of more bruises if he doesn't do what Kuro says, Valmont reluctantly disentangles himself from Emma and bends down to try and haul one of Nanami's arms over his shoulder.
He is, though, as established, a complete weakling. So the process may take a while unless someone steps in to assist. ]
