Well! That was some tea party, huh? You've finally seen the faces (or perhaps the singular is more proper here?) of your captors. A pair of creepy twins seem to fit the overall theme of the Castle at least. Why not have Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum, after all?

Regardless, it doesn't seem that they're changing their minds any time soon. The first floor of the Castle is still open up to you. The Audience Hall is still locked most of the time so perhaps you can meet the Alices there if you need to. There are plenty of things to occupy your time before the inevitable slow erosion of your memories. If this is a game, who will make the first move? You or the twins?

Oh no, the castle and everything involved sucks. I was talking about magic in a general sense there.

Yeah, well, in a general sense it keeps trying to kill my friends, so. Go figure.

...oh. I grew up learning magic from my family, so I guess we've got pretty different experiences there...

Mm, guess so. Is that, like, normal where you're from?

It's...normal for my family, I guess? Most people don't really believe in magic, and we don't have many super-flashy spells.

... Kind of a family business thing?

That and the bakery, yeah.

Hey, we don't do curses! ...much. [Some people just need a good curse in the face.] Our focus is definitely more on healing and blessings!

But some people just have it coming, right? [ She pauses. ] That's probably better. Less pitchforks and torches, anyway.

Oh yeah, torches and pitchforks is definitely the failure state we're trying to avoid. Plus it's just better that no one expects curses from us, you know?

Yeah, that sounds more like it. [ But she doesn't actively sound like... reproving, or anything. ] Anyway, the dumb boundary on the dumb fake garden leads right here, which I'm guessing everyone else already figured out.

Oh, I hadn't tested that myself yet...it didn't hurt or anything, right? Just...disorienting?

And annoying. But yeah, it wasn't painful, I was just — here. Whatever barrier the rules are talking about, this isn't it.

Yeah...I guess we should be relieved about that. [Everyone dies from running through a hedge-worst murdergame ending ever.] I don't want to see what those two think a "severe" punishment should be.

Right? Death is, like, a minor setback for them — if they're not just delusional. I'm not looking forward to finding out which.

Neither am I. [A firm shake of the head.] Especially not when none of my magic is working here.
