Well! That was some tea party, huh? You've finally seen the faces (or perhaps the singular is more proper here?) of your captors. A pair of creepy twins seem to fit the overall theme of the Castle at least. Why not have Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum, after all?

Regardless, it doesn't seem that they're changing their minds any time soon. The first floor of the Castle is still open up to you. The Audience Hall is still locked most of the time so perhaps you can meet the Alices there if you need to. There are plenty of things to occupy your time before the inevitable slow erosion of your memories. If this is a game, who will make the first move? You or the twins?

[It's a couple minutes after the announcement and oh my goodness who's that running up from the back of the library? TRICK QUESTION IT'S THOSE EIGHT DOGS AND THEY LOOK A LITTLE SPOOPED. They spot Franzie first and now they are going to run around her legs nervously!!]

Franziska! That room with the glass front box, it got bigger!!

[She jumps slightly when a small pack of dog things runs through the door, with much ticking of nails against the hard floors. She's still not really used to this... person? people? creature?, but it - he? - had seemed friendly enough before, and he seems friendly enough now, it is simply very odd, and for someone used to perfection was somewhat of a wrench in the works.

But she'd pet him before, and now is no time to act strangely.

It does not help that she does not know what he is talking about, however.]

What glass box?

The box with the viewscreen on it! In the, um... [Several of him slow down their runnings-about and he looks back and forth at himself, trying to remember the term he'd heard someone use.]

Oh! Right! The "media room"!

[Look Amdi has seen castles and he has seen fucking spaceships he does not know much about the inbetween inventions like TV yet.]

[She is never sure which of him to look at, is the problem, and after a moment chooses one at random.]

The media room? What do you mean it got bigger?

[she is ABSOLUTELY going off to investigate, he can come with her!]

I mean it got bigger!! The walls moved and there is about twice as much floor area now I think!

[He will indeed come with her!]

[She trots off to the media room, throws open the door, and freezes.]

W-wha?

[octopups]

[Amdi spills in around her and bounds over to the spot on the wall in the "newer" half of the room that he touched earlier.]

I think I got in here right after it got bigger, because when I touched the wall right here, [he points] it jiggled! Like it wasn't done being made yet!

It... it what?

[She immediately makes a beeline for the wall, and presses very close to look at it very closely.]

The walls were soft sometimes when I looked at them too, but it felt like clay. It was still solid!

[octopups]

Like clay? Weird... I'm pretty sure it was jiggly, like those colorful fruity jelly things that are in the dining room sometimes. [He means Jell-O.]

[After a sec he cocks a couple heads in confusion.] Wait, where were the walls like clay?

Everywhere. [It is remarkable how quickly you can become accustomed to talking to a pack of notdogs when there are other things to focus on.]

Especially where there's rare materials, like marble and gold and ebony. They don't always feel like that, but sometimes they do if you really focus, especially when you first touch them.

Investigation

[octopups]

Really??!

[This is new and exciting information to Amdi, who looks around and runs over to enthusiastically bite the weirdest object he can find close to hand — which happens to be a stray VHS tape.]

[Funfact for both Franziska and omniscient mod: Tines do not have teeth at the very front of their jaws, just stiffened sections of gums that they can press together to hold onto things. So maybe not "bite" so much as "nom on like a teething baby"]

[For most people (unless they were from a fantasy world), even with this information the tape would feel like normal plastic.

As for Amdi, though? For a brief second it feels different. If the mod's getting this right, a more familiar feeling. Like the padding Tines use on things. It only lasts a second and then Amdi is nom'ing on plastic once more.]

T-that's only plastic! It's not uncommon at all!

[This is really not at all what she'd expected when she told him 'rare materials'.]

[octopups]

[Almost as soon as one of Amdi gums the tape, that member drops it and backs away looking like someone has done it a heckin bamboozle. And then quickly another one of him scoots up to try the nom again, and he looks even more bamboozled.]

Wh-wha?! It was soft! But... just for a second! That was...

[Amdi may not know super good what plastic is all about, but he DOES have a notion that black + opaque + shiny = probably hard, and he was definitely NOT expecting to grab what felt like a quilted jaw-handle.]

It was??

[She picks up the tape, really trying to focus as she does, and looks at it from all angles.

It's just a video tape.]

So... is it whatever is most unusual for each individual person, not what is uniformly rarest, that... that works like this?

M-maybe? I mean... I've seen "plastic" before, but only on stuff from Jefri's space ship, s-so...

S-space ship?

[Well, he IS very different from anyone back home...]

I thought they were usually made of metal, aren't they?

[SHE KNOWS NOTHING about rocketship design but isn't plastic kinda flimsy for a spaceship tho?]

Oh yeah the outside was made of metal! I meant some of the things inside like the coldsleep pods and the commset. I touched the commset box once when Jefri and I pranked Mr. Steel but we weren't allowed to touch it after that.

[Sorry Franzie all of the humans Amdi knows came from space he still kind of assumes all humans know about spaceship things.]

I-I don't think we have those, where I'm from.

[IN THE END WHO KNOWS, REALLY, SHE'S NO SPACEFLIGHT EXPERT. She knows they have spaceships and hasn't looked further into it than that by much - cut her a break here she can't know everything yet. Give her a couple more years.]
