Well! That was some tea party, huh? You've finally seen the faces (or perhaps the singular is more proper here?) of your captors. A pair of creepy twins seem to fit the overall theme of the Castle at least. Why not have Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum, after all?

Regardless, it doesn't seem that they're changing their minds any time soon. The first floor of the Castle is still open up to you. The Audience Hall is still locked most of the time so perhaps you can meet the Alices there if you need to. There are plenty of things to occupy your time before the inevitable slow erosion of your memories. If this is a game, who will make the first move? You or the twins?

[It is best to be practical about all this, she knows that much, but she does hate to give away anything too important, and it's not like she has much. A pen from her room probably wouldn't count, after all.

Finally, scowling, she marches over to her wardrobe and pulls it open, then digs through the shelves until she emerges with a crisp strip of white cloth - an ascot, clean and folded into a small square, and thrusts it into his hand.]

My papa would say it is better to be prepared. You can't be perfectly prepared if you don't also prepare for every eventuality. But you'd better not lose it!

[He looks surprised, taking it carefully with both his hands.]

It sounds like everyone's going to be careful to make sure nothing happens, but... Just in case.

Ha! It would be better for no one to try anything! They would not be able to expect to get away with it, so any attempts to kill would be useless in any regard.

[She has such confidence that no one need die, and that no one will because clearly everyone will be too smart to try anything. So young. So innocent.]

Naturally! I was heading an investigation at home for a double homicide the very day I was brought here! It only makes sense that I'd find anyone who tried to hide from me in two minutes!

Because I'm a prosecutor, of course! Or, at least, I will be one as soon as I have time to take the bar exam.

A prosecutor is someone who argues a legal case for the court, or the state, whoever is bringing a case against the defendant. And the bar exam is the test that lawyers need to take in order to be able to legally work. Think of it as a graduation test, I guess. You need to pass it to be licensed.

Do you have to go to a special school for it?
