Afterparty the Third

[Yuta's gone. He can't do the after party. So now it's up to Sonic. Yes, Hunter was going to do it, or...at least yell at the sheep to do it, but Sonic pointed out they were going to need more than just apple slices. People were starving and the sheep couldn't cook. In his opinion, of course. How does one even bruise an apple like that!?

Hunter wasn't happy with him, and what's her face Jeanie probably hated his guts now, but honestly, who was happy with anything at this point?

So, the first thing he does is go to the kitchen and start to do the one thing he knows will at least help: cook. The food is back, and so he's going to make a hearty mean and veggie stew in the oven, courtesy of an old recipe that nanny Rosie would make when they were kids. Back before the takeover. After they got food in Knothole.

While the stew is stewing in the oven for a good hour or so, Sonic himself is just...stewing. And also making something with rice in the microwave to tie people over in the meantime. It's actually congee, but he thinks its hot rice pudding, so whatever, it's good to go for people.

And yes. He also has apple slices and graham crackers, Hunter insisted on it. And yes, he's made extra and enough for everyone and Nanami to have seconds if they'd like. They need to eat, albeit slowly so they don't get sick, and he makes notes at the cafeteria table stating that. Then he gets to work with a cookbook to try and make some kind of drink that can help with getting people back on their feet. Dylan does cover with chamomile tea, at least, so it's not as much of an urgent issue.

He's mostly staying in the kitchen if people want to bug him. When he does finally come out, he sits in silence, staring at his bowl of stew, picking at the carrots. He's tired. It's pretty obvious on his face.]

[If this was a cartoon, this would be the part where it would zoom in on both Adorabat's and Kuro's eyes, with black bard at the top and bottom.

But this isn't a cartoon. So it doesn't happen.

What does happen is that Adorabat flaps in place a little to build up some anticipation, then will reach back, ball in wing, and throw it HARD. Kuro may not know the amount of physical strength this bat may hold, given that she once lifted up a heavy cart and smashed it with only a single wing.]

[ Sure enough, it's an impressive volley. Kuro has agility on her side, the reflexes and precision with which she catches the oncoming ball impressive, but it still sends her a few staggering steps back. Kuro catches herself without falling, though, and— ]

Haa~h, impressive! But... You'll need to do better... To defeat Homurahara Academy's dodgeball champion!

[ She fires back, plenty of strength to be found in her own compact body. It's aimed for Adorabat's big round face. ]

[violence_ensues]

[Adorabat gasps as the ball quickly approaches. It bashes into her face, sending her careening away. Adorabat bounces off of the floor a couple times, Not getting up from the floor, she grips her face, whimpering, as tears start forming in her eyes, and...

...Okay, none of that actually happened. Adorabat dopes get a little surprised by the speed of the ball, but she swiftly dodges diagonally, to the side and down. She lets it bounce off the wall before catching it with a wing, unfortunately fumbling. Adorabat gasps ad the ball nearly touches the ground, but Adorabat quickly goes after it, snatching before it reaching.]

...Whew. Close one...

[ Kuro giggles. The cadence of it is menacing, and obviously theatrical. ]

Ah, good job, good job! Who knows what I would have done if you'd let me recover it~

[ Still, her posture remains poised to react to another strike. ]

WE'LL NEVER KNOW!

[Yeah, that dodge was swift and perfect, but Adorabat seemed to be unused to catching fast, flying objects. A weakness Kuro can no doubt abuse. But be wary, Adorabat's looking for weaknesses in Kuro.

In any case, Adorabat throws it hard again, this time, aiming for a foot.]

[ It would seem she isn't as adept at responding to a low blow like that one. It's too risky to stoop down for a catch, so instead, Kuro has to snap her leg back and pivot aside. The ball thunks off the floor, bouncing its way toward the back wall, and sends Kuro chasing after it.

She practically dives to reclaim it, more for the flair and fun of it than anything. Dodgeball is a pretty different game when it's one-on-one, but still— ]

Taaake—this!

[ Further back against the wall, rather than a hard pitch in a straight line, Kuro decides to alley-oop it in a high arc and hope the change of pace will catch Adorabat off-guard. ]

[violence_ensues]

[Adorabat thrusts herself upwards in a kind of unfair advantage of being able to move vertically, and directs herself toward the ball. Given that it wasn't thrown as hard, Adorabat manages to collect it without fumbling. With a small twirl in the air, Adorabat throws it at Kuro nearly immediately after catching it.]
