WEEK 3

All three deaths last were tragic in their own ways. Was trust so fragile in that castle that a simple misunderstanding could end in blood? It seemed to be the case. The trial proved that without a doubt. Surely no one else would make that mistake again. As another week begins the tea cup elevator has granted access to a new area. Maybe the new amusements of a festival will ease your wounded hearts?

Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday

[It's time for week three! We're almost half-way done with our trip in the castle. Don't forget to submit your memories here and your activity here. Even though, the Queen seems to be a little more steady on her feet you can find her and the other Alice at the audience hall. As always, don't forget to submit your comments for fabulous prizes.]

Yeah, uh—

[Mizuki whips out Veronica's knife like so.]

In what universe is glass dust white like this? Cat boy land?

[More importantly...]

But there was a portrait in Anna's room. So now we know that the portraits being blank on the back doesn't mean they weren't involved in a case... right?

Glass is the same thing as China, though. The difference is just what you make them from.

[This is actually the case traditionally. Glass was considered a type of ceramic.]

[Well she didn't know that but it seems to strengthen her case, and she definitely perks up just a bit in interest.]
ballooncaged: (Surprised)

[personal profile] ballooncaged 2020-10-21 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...what?

[She... can vaguely follow the reasoning that they're similar processes of heating or whatever, but she hasn't heard it put this way explicitly before. Some real pearls from swine here.]

Still, does that mean "glass game" means "fragile game"? It could mean transparent game, or... if China counts, then "container game".
nothingposh: (not much to look at nothing posh)

[personal profile] nothingposh 2020-10-21 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't it just be about that cup they got the wish from?
ballooncaged: (Disagree)

[personal profile] ballooncaged 2020-10-21 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't grails metal?
nothingposh: (here in the slums of saint michel)

[personal profile] nothingposh 2020-10-21 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Are they always? Thought it was just a fancy cup.

[You would think. You would think in a musical about faith and forgiveness and also in which some church candlesticks are the most important character, that Gavroche would actually know what a chalice is. That would require actually going to church and doing Eucharist, though.]
ballooncaged: (Deflect)

[personal profile] ballooncaged 2020-10-21 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mizuki has ALSO not been to church so Hempel's raven "there are no nonmetal fancy cups there" does not strike her as possible.]

Well, we can ask Manaka...

[Glances at Nagisa.]

In their world, molecular things might have already been discovered. They had planes in their wars - flying machines, does that ring a bell?
nothingposh: (not much to look at nothing posh)

[personal profile] nothingposh 2020-10-21 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems against the laws of nature if you ask me.

[So no. The plane isn't gonna get invented for like eighty years or something. Do I look like I'm playing from the Dallas Center production of Les Mis.]

But who's saying Alice and Manaka come from the same-same world?
ballooncaged: (Surprised)

[personal profile] ballooncaged 2020-10-21 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica... actually said a really similar thing. After being connected to other worlds, she was surprised so few of us were familiar with casting magic from "tomes".

[SPRAWLING CANONS WITH GACHAS IS SAME??]
nothingposh: (tough on the teeth but what the hell)

[personal profile] nothingposh 2020-10-21 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
She said something about that. Also that sometimes she met the same people, but dressed funny [Veronica explained .......... holiday gacha to Gavroche.] so I reckon that it makes more sense for Catlice to have brought us all from different places. Otherwise why not bring in people who would actually be friends with her?
ballooncaged: (Teasing)

[personal profile] ballooncaged 2020-10-26 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Mizuki would have concerns about the definition of "dressed funny" if she knew about Gavroche's familarity with ladies of the night, but as it is, she files it away as a tangential detail that could become important later.] If she brought in a couple of pairs, then ruling out someone from a further reach of her own world doesn't really make sense to me. But either way their perspectives are super different, so I guess it doesn't matter.

...definitely extra weird that she brings in a bunch of crazy murderers if what she wants are friends who accept her crap.
strictura: (all of those french films about trains)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-22 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd imagine they probably have been discovered in her time since she mentioned planes, but it's true that she might not personally know that. And the magic here is generally the work of the Cat, who we know is supposed to be from further back in time than the Queen, so if she were the one who named it, then I guess it could make sense if there wasn't that differentiation.

[ Still not sold, but he'll acknowledge the possibility. ]
imozon: ([dd] Upset looking away)

[personal profile] imozon 2020-10-22 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dark Dream rubs her head with both hands. Her poor brain is trying its best.]

So... Cat Alice might not know the difference between glass and ceramics, because she's older than planes?
strictura: (and explain things)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-22 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well, yes, basically.
imozon: ([dd] Friend?)

[personal profile] imozon 2020-10-22 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I get it.

[She doesn't really, but she feels like she does.]

Is that important?
strictura: (when they know that damn well)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-22 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not, it just affects the likelihood that the name of the "glass game" has anything to do with the Queen's physical condition.
imozon: ([dd] Perfect copy)

[personal profile] imozon 2020-10-22 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
But nobody knows what a "glass game" is anyway, right? So maybe it would be important if we knew what it was.

(no subject)

strictura: (but you're so smart)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-21 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They seem similar, but they're typically classified differently because glass has no ordered molecular structure, while ceramics are crystalline.

...Admittedly, the Alices probably wouldn't look at anything from a scientific standpoint.
nothingposh: (this is my school my high society)

[personal profile] nothingposh 2020-10-21 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Listen, wherever you come from they might be classified different coz of the science and whatnot, but where I'm from they're the same. Reckon it's the same for the Alices.

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-22 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The Queen isn't from so far back in history, I don't think, but the Cat is another story, so you may have a point.
battlestations: (he won't live)

[personal profile] battlestations 2020-10-22 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
That reminds me, I found some white powder in another strange place myself. The inside of the teacup elevator door.... and that door is completely beaten up. Someone slammed it several times. I'd bet my giant ruby someone died there, as well.
strictura: (why do you do it)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-22 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think the Queen was involved in whatever struggle took place there, then?

[ He almost wonders if it wasn't another punishment instead of a murder. ]
battlestations: (be careful what you say)

[personal profile] battlestations 2020-10-23 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's possible, isn't it? I couldn't figure out what else it might have been at the time.

[SINCE IT PROBABLY WASN'T BONE DUST.]
strictura: (try to map the ocean)

[personal profile] strictura 2020-10-23 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I would think so.

[ Hm. ]

It's impossible to form any kind of solid theory at this point, obviously, but I wonder if maybe someone tried attacking her there -- possibly to try to prevent a trial or something, if it was at the elevator that would have taken them there -- and was punished for it like Veronica was.
