WEEK 4

[whimsicalism]

Even as the castle--is it even right to consider as a 'castle'?--continues to grow more accessible more of the group is whittled away. Even your own memories fade as the Alices continue their 'game'. As the new nautically themed area opens new residents of the castle seem to have appeared. A family of living dolls has moved themselves into the dining hall while a lovesick apple tree familiar from Friday seems to have taken root in the garden. Along with the graveyard in floor three the Alices seem to want you to remember your fallen friends in some very... different ways.

Maybe the upcoming holiday will distract the Alices from moving their game along? Only time will tell.

[ This isn't so bad. Nagisa hadn't really had any desire to acknowledge his own birthday last week -- even if he didn't dread turning into an adult, he really wouldn't have considered his birth into that family something worth celebrating -- but celebrating everyone that's still here together on an ordinary day is kind of nice. (And it's a convenient distraction to keep him from dwelling on what might happen tonight.)

Maybe he'll almost smile once or twice.

That said, he is, perhaps unsurprisingly, not actually great with parties; and rather than doing anything fun himself, he's mostly standing around and watching to make sure everyone else seems to be having an acceptable time. At various points he can also be found straightening up the cake serving area, or standing on a bench to try to redistribute the hanging paper stars that have started sliding out of place and gathering too close together. ]

Hey, why don't you join in on the fun, Nagisa?

[ So serious business as usual. But he didn't think that Nagisa being a hard worker was bad. ]

Ah- I mean, I'm mostly here to make sure things are running smoothly.

[ You saw his last party, do you think he knows how to have fun?? ]

[ ...he's actually pretty sure he wouldn't know fun if it bit him in the face. But!! ]

Mhm. And they are so why not join in something here? Just to make extra sure it stays that way,

What would you suggest?

[ He'll grin for a bit, feeling a little triumphant he's going to get Nagisa join in the fun maybe! ]

There's one of those piñata things here, right?

You should give it a try!

I... guess I can take a swing at it if everyone else who wants to has had a turn.

It doesn't look like there's that much of a line, so at least you won't be waiting forever?

[ And if someone looked like they were going to successfully smash it before Nagisa could try, Gil could always find a way to trip them so the other kid could get a turn.

...What? He's helping. ]

[ gil, please ]

Well. All right.

[ He will patiently wait for his turn, though he feels a little anxious once he's up. If he breaks it, he'll feel guilty, and if he hits it too pathetically or misses entirely (both of which are much more likely than that first scenario), he'll feel embarrassed. Why is he doing this!!

He sighs and looks at the blindfold. ]

So I just put this on, right?

[golden_king]

[ He's the best, right??

Meanwhile, Gil's still proud of himself for having the other join in that he could almost forget they were in an inconvenient situation...buuut not quite. ]

Yeah, and then you just step forward and take a few swings like you're trying to hit a ball in one of those baseball games.

[strictura]

R-right.

[ Yes, baseball, a thing he has definitely played.

Okay. On with the blindfold, taking a deep breath, aaand here we go-!!


He. Kind of taps one of the piñata's feet a little, maybe? It moves, at least! ]

[golden_king]

[ ... That was actually pretty well-aimed for his first time at the party. ]

Ooh! It's moving...

And to think, that was just on the first swing.

[strictura]

[ He's not very good at hitting things, but he's got great aim, actually!

He perks up at the reaction, though he only turns his head slightly, not wanting to lose track of his target if he's already got it where he wants it. ]

Really? That was good, then?

[golden_king]

Yeah!

If you keep your aim steady, I think you could really nab it soon enough. Are you gonna make another attempt?
