All Hail the Queen

[An hour passes in this strange place. There's silence for a few moments. Then loud talking starts.]

They don't seem to like me... [A young girl's voice, timid and small despite the fact that everyone can hear her.]

Does it matter? If we act like the sun or the north wind, it's no skin off our backs. [A second voice answers... the same voice? Could she just be talking to herself?] You are the Queen. All ways are your ways.

Yes. Alice is the Queen.

[At this statement, the doors quickly open. As the Queen's note said there's a large table filled with tea and sweets in the middle of the audience hall. There's even chairs for everyone. Far from the ground on an balcony is a large throne. On the throne is a young girl, with a small fluffy cat in her lap. The girl smiles briefly.]

I'm Alice the Queen.

[The cat jumps on the railing of the balcony to stare dispassionately at the gathered group before jumping on the throne herself. Within a few seconds a copy of the Queen is sitting next to her, dressed in black.]

And I'm Alice the Chesire Cat. Welcome to our Castle. [There's a dryness to the Cat's voice that is missing from the Queen's.]

I'm sure we can answer your questions! Come, it's time for Alice's Tea Party! Let's begin, Alice.

[Welcome to Wonderland.]

Oh, we'd bring you back. You won't stay dead for long! [If anything, this is something she sounds very serious about even if no one trusts her.]

[ That... sounds very implausible, but so do a lot of other things that are happening here. ]

What?? If kids would suffer needlessly because of everything in the middle of the book, then of course I would!

If things were different I would agree with you but if it's for that wish, then even this will be made okay.

[strictura]

[ "That wish"?? ]

I don't know what it is that means that much to you, but-- but we all have wishes too, you know! And as long as we're trapped here, you're keeping us from making them a reality!

[twinverses]

You weren't the one I made a contract with. Alice wished for me so her wish is going to be granted this time.

[strictura]

We never made a contract with either of you.

[ to Queen Alice specifically-- ]

If you really believe your wish is worth so much that it's acceptable for others to suffer for it, you at least owe it to them to tell them what they're enduring it for. Can you not even do that much?

I want to play some more. Not just this sort of game but being able to drink tea, play tag, read new books... I wanna still be able to do all that.

[How the game will achieve that isn't clear but she seems earnest about that.]

[ Ah... There's a pause, and his tone softens a little after that. ]

You weren't able to do those things before?

[twinverses]

Not for a long time. Not after the soldiers came and I had to go to the hospital.

[The other Alice holds her arm, shaking her head gently.]

We don't need to tell our story yet.

She can tell it if she wants to!
