All Hail the Queen

[An hour passes in this strange place. There's silence for a few moments. Then loud talking starts.]

They don't seem to like me... [A young girl's voice, timid and small despite the fact that everyone can hear her.]

Does it matter? If we act like the sun or the north wind, it's no skin off our backs. [A second voice answers... the same voice? Could she just be talking to herself?] You are the Queen. All ways are your ways.

Yes. Alice is the Queen.

[At this statement, the doors quickly open. As the Queen's note said there's a large table filled with tea and sweets in the middle of the audience hall. There's even chairs for everyone. Far from the ground on an balcony is a large throne. On the throne is a young girl, with a small fluffy cat in her lap. The girl smiles briefly.]

I'm Alice the Queen.

[The cat jumps on the railing of the balcony to stare dispassionately at the gathered group before jumping on the throne herself. Within a few seconds a copy of the Queen is sitting next to her, dressed in black.]

And I'm Alice the Chesire Cat. Welcome to our Castle. [There's a dryness to the Cat's voice that is missing from the Queen's.]

I'm sure we can answer your questions! Come, it's time for Alice's Tea Party! Let's begin, Alice.

[Welcome to Wonderland.]

But the fancy house... I thought for sure you were some rich granny!

[He's flustered! He can't just clock a couple of nine year olds out of the blue. Even if they have highkey Delightful Children vibes, and he still kind of wants to.]

Alright, you. You two. Where did you get the idea that killing was a type of game? Why don't you just play Yipper or something. You're acting like grownups.

Like the Queen of Hearts?

[She seems startled.]

Nah, you're not loud enough for her and you're not blonde either. It's okay. [Alice the Queen pauses at that, looking at Alice the Cat.]

I like tea. Chase, playing house... but this isn't fighting. It's just play sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It was like that when I saw those people grouped up together. It seemed alright then.

[battlestations]

What people? Be a little more specific so I can understand, please??

[He is pretty doubtful about this, frankly. Unless they're talking about a video game or something.]

Um... what's the words you told me again, Alice?

The Masters and Servants, Alice.

[There's a pause to their talking, as if they were debating silently with themselves.]

The thing they said was a war?

The Holy Grail granted Alice's wish and we met. Playing a little rough is nothing compared to that.

[battlestations]

War? That sounds super adult-like and you know it!

[He huffs, then looks at the cat.]

It sounds pretty suspicious that you met her because of some wish, too. What exactly does that make you?

[twinverses]

Do we really have to say it?

[Alice the Cat raises her eyebrows. This isn't what she really wanted but hey, sometimes for a wish...]

That kid is a Master, too. [She gestures at Manaka.] That game's over. I'm a Servant, the Alice of stories.

[battlestations]

You said this was nothing, but then you called that a game too. You really ought to make up your mind.

[He'll press on the bridge of his shades a bit as Manaka is pointed out to him, then nod. Good to know if someone else would know more about this situation. It makes her more suspicious, but nothing wrong with a little interrogation.]

Stories... is that all stories, or just fiction?

[twinverses]

[...It does seem to hit them a little. They're trying their best!]

All fairy tales are my friends but I think that's enough on that. If I could have brought adults here, I would have preferred that.

[battlestations]

Oh great. So nice to know you'd have preferred to take someone else, that really helps us kids out a lot!

[He turns back to the Queen Alice after letting out that sarcasm, giving her a frustrated look.]

Do you seriously trust her with whatever it is you're going for here? She basically admitted she'd stop at nothing just now. Also? The thing where she's copying your appearance? Pretty creepy of her if you ask me.

[twinverses]

[They ere both quiet at this for a long time. The black-clad Alice glared down at Nigel while the Queen fiddles with her skirt.]

Without Alice, I would have...! No one could even see me--they all thought--!

[You made a nine year old sad girl cry. Okay, admittedly she deserves it. The other Alice holds her arm.]

...Maybe we should call the tea party off. They're cranky tonight.

[To cat! Coldly!] You're wrong if you think this will be over that easily.

[To Queen! Awkwardly, because oh jeez crying girl!] .....Iii may not know all the details, but... still, I hope you think about this as if your very childhood depends on it.

[The Queen sniffs a little then nods. She's not sure she understands and she trusts her Alice with her life because, well, she trusts herself.

The Cat, well, gives him a Look but doesn't say anything.]

[battlestations]

[He can tell he's not going to get anything else out of them now... diplomacy is hard!! So he just nods back.]

Enjoy your tea. [points at eyes points at cat as he walks away. Hopefully the other kids will get some good intel at least...]
