All Hail the Queen

[An hour passes in this strange place. There's silence for a few moments. Then loud talking starts.]

They don't seem to like me... [A young girl's voice, timid and small despite the fact that everyone can hear her.]

Does it matter? If we act like the sun or the north wind, it's no skin off our backs. [A second voice answers... the same voice? Could she just be talking to herself?] You are the Queen. All ways are your ways.

Yes. Alice is the Queen.

[At this statement, the doors quickly open. As the Queen's note said there's a large table filled with tea and sweets in the middle of the audience hall. There's even chairs for everyone. Far from the ground on an balcony is a large throne. On the throne is a young girl, with a small fluffy cat in her lap. The girl smiles briefly.]

I'm Alice the Queen.

[The cat jumps on the railing of the balcony to stare dispassionately at the gathered group before jumping on the throne herself. Within a few seconds a copy of the Queen is sitting next to her, dressed in black.]

And I'm Alice the Chesire Cat. Welcome to our Castle. [There's a dryness to the Cat's voice that is missing from the Queen's.]

I'm sure we can answer your questions! Come, it's time for Alice's Tea Party! Let's begin, Alice.

[Welcome to Wonderland.]

That's...not how it works in our world! [Cori is already moving to cover the closest young ears she can find.] We don't have ears or tails at all! [A pause] Except for Edmund, I guess, but he's a special case!

[ He can be both standoffish and curious at the same time. ]

The one human guy I know who does have ears. Pretty sure he's stuck with them permanently now, though he's figured out how to use illusions to hide them. [She shrugs.] I wasn't on very close terms with him or anything.

Uh-huh. He must be a loser to have given up and resorted to hypnosis, they make websites for that if you're really desperate.

[ A beat. ]

Wait, he's gotta be a poor loser then! [ And then he's laughing because jeez, how pathetic. ]

...I'm pretty sure that's not how he got his ears. What I mean is, normally in my world we don't have extra ears or tails at all, and Edmund's a special case.

Right. [ It would be easy to read this as dismissive, but his gaze says otherwise. ]

...hm? Coriander Bliss, but you can call me Cori for short.

[byzer0]

Coriander Bliss. [ There's a certain tone that might give her the feeling that if they weren't in this place, this might be dangerous. It gives way to irritation a second later and several ear flicks. ]

Jeez, this is gonna be really annoying if it doesn't even work on randoms like you.

[She rolls her eyes.] If what doesn't work?

Wordspell. [ He is undeterred, that reaction gets him to smile actually. ]

To someone like you, it's basically magic.

[rhododendronhoney]

...you're only trying magic now? It doesn't work here, you know? [Anyone who looks in her room is going to find a bunch of attempts at protective sigils. In glitter pen.]

That's not what I said, stupid. I could tell right away that I couldn't sense the field anymore, but hypnosis barely counts as wordspell with how easy it is to use on non-units.

[ He didn't need to test it out because his connection with Youji should be ever present like oxygen in the air. ]

[She rolls her eyes.] I doubt it would have worked even if you did have all your powers. [After all, one of her abilities is natural resistance to mind-affecting effects.]

Uh-huh. [ Actually yeah it wouldn't have worked in that case but like he believes her! ]

I'm guessing those are specific terms from your world, then?

[ Nods. ] You wouldn't understand if I explained anyway.

[She rolls her eyes a little at that, but keeps quiet. He probably wouldn'nt even if she asked.]

[ His tone is teasing, one finger coming up to tap on his eyepatch. ]
