WEEK ONE

This week, students at Ira Academy must return to class with their memories of the weekend hanging over them. The Principal is watching now, and he dislikes children even more than his initial draconian idea of education led everyone to believe. The rules revision is probably at the forefront of most people’s minds, along with the sinking paranoia of being monitored much more closely and more severely reprimanded for stepping out of line. This very empty academy building suddenly feels all the more claustrophobic. All students now have the option to commit murder and be freed from this school. Less than a week ago, you were teaching yourself to be friends with some of your fellow classmates. Will things remain that way, or will someone reveal themselves to be willing to take a life to escape?

But just because murder’s on the table doesn’t mean that your studies are off of it, and the Little Brothers are still here to helpfully encourage all students to complete their coursework. Despite being shepherded away at the end of the school dance announcement last night, this week the Prefect will be back for her office hours and, thankfully, less fixated on pulling off a successful weekend spelling bee and social event. Less thankfully, it seems she believes that completing your re-education as originally planned is the correct course of action. You’d do well to remember, perhaps, that right now your success reflects ultimately on her. Students who prefer to see how their fellow school denizen and prisoner-in-spirit can also sneak into the music room whenever it’s unoccupied to converse with A.

To that end, it also looks like someone’s posted a “Tutors and Study Groups” sign-up sheet on the hallway walls outside the A/V room. There are illustrated descriptions next to it, so even someone who doesn’t understand the writing should be able to glean its purpose. This seems like a good way for people who are interested in working together or helping one another with anything involved in school life. Students may make use of this resource as they will.

Finally, at the end of the hallway near the music room, a sliding wall has receded as if it was never there in the first place, revealing an unexplored area on this floor.. Hmm, what could be up there?

Unlike last week, Nanami can also be invited to participate in your threads with a (PREFECT) call-out. This is an option for anyone who wants non-private/event convos with her, if for some reason anyone wants to spend MORE time with her. If you are looking for information about the school’s mysteries, it's highly recommended you bring in the sheep or the mod journal instead!

[Carrie takes a deep breath.

You might, very reasonably, be expecting more profanity right now.

But if that's the case you'll be disappointed. Instead, she's laughing. Not happily, but in the sort of desperate way one does after being told something so crushingly stupid that if they don't laugh they'll scream and cry and rage until they're sick. She stumbles, catches herself against the nearest wall. The laughing fit lasts just long enough that it's obviously involuntary, and when it's passed, Carrie stays leaning where she managed to keep herself from falling.]

They really think... they really think sealing power makes you powerless, huh?

[There is, despite everything, despite the spite that is loudest, a note of despair in Carrie's voice.

It's for the best that none of the telepaths seem to be active, though. Her mind is racing, and it's a mess.

Her cousin was a grown woman, fully trained as a combat sorceress, and she ended up undead trying to fight - and - and God would a broken chair leg even work? She has no idea what that woman-shaped monster is even wearing under her stupid fancy blouse and jacket, it could be armor. The thought of the bastard running this having Dracula on his payroll is too ridiculous to even consider in passing. There's day and night but there's no sunshine here, it's not a level playing field - ]

[He just sort of...makes a face, for a moment, and before he can even question what she's saying, Jeanne is holding the ball thing up like she's presenting the solution to all their problems, and he just chooses to watch and wait.

[She takes Spirit Ball Shamash down and begins patting him all over, looking for parts besides a head.]

[That and he's not sure if her would even want to end up dragging it around the school, so it's a win for both of them.]

If it makes you feel better, you're not the only one whose stuff was messed with. I'm pretty sure the kibble pump from my house was put in there too, and now anyone who uses that vending machine has to worry about getting a jet of kibble shot at them.

[Jeanne is... kind of wondering why Edward didn't go to church. Perhaps there really are sins on his conscience that she would want to know, and that is why he did not want to take the eucharist. But maybe she was coming on too strong. She wants to ingratiate herself a bit.]

I do not think that he would be wise to trust my enemy.

Perhaps it is because I lack the intermediaries that I usually use for Shamash to express his oversoul. But he is usually only this small and compact the moment before I integrate him into the objects. [Her lips quirk like a shrug, knowing this is "blah blah blah" to Dylan.]

[He snickers at that comment, crimson eyes bright with amusement.]

I don't have many that could properly be considered an actual enemy. Those who he could bring in...

[He starts laughing again as he considers it.]

It's a surprise... but not the exciting kind. You can't prepare if you don't know, so no one can tell you that.

... But, uh, it's probably best not to test his patience. You also don't know when he might decide to invite more than one.

[It was one thing to imagine that Carrie had no knife, saw no vampire to stab through the iron gates, had limits in control over space and time just as even Hao. But... as today is the first full day that Jeanne has gone through the entire schoolday with Shamash in spirit ball form at her side... It. Hits her. She's trying to take Carrie's words literally, to act strong like she did at the initial killing game announcement, but it's nothing like what's in her heart.]

Carrie, your witchcraft has been sealed?

[Jeanne is running to the wall, putting her hands over Carrie's shoulders. Surely her intention was to come lift her up, but the strength isn't there yet. It comes off much more like she is about to collapse and supported herself on the wall. Her red eyes are so bright.]

So, it's because...you don't have your usual abilities, that he can't do anything. And even if you did, he wouldn't be this small, because...this is how he looks before you...fuse him into certain objects?
