WEEK ONE

This week, students at Ira Academy must return to class with their memories of the weekend hanging over them. The Principal is watching now, and he dislikes children even more than his initial draconian idea of education led everyone to believe. The rules revision is probably at the forefront of most people’s minds, along with the sinking paranoia of being monitored much more closely and more severely reprimanded for stepping out of line. This very empty academy building suddenly feels all the more claustrophobic. All students now have the option to commit murder and be freed from this school. Less than a week ago, you were teaching yourself to be friends with some of your fellow classmates. Will things remain that way, or will someone reveal themselves to be willing to take a life to escape?

But just because murder’s on the table doesn’t mean that your studies are off of it, and the Little Brothers are still here to helpfully encourage all students to complete their coursework. Despite being shepherded away at the end of the school dance announcement last night, this week the Prefect will be back for her office hours and, thankfully, less fixated on pulling off a successful weekend spelling bee and social event. Less thankfully, it seems she believes that completing your re-education as originally planned is the correct course of action. You’d do well to remember, perhaps, that right now your success reflects ultimately on her. Students who prefer to see how their fellow school denizen and prisoner-in-spirit can also sneak into the music room whenever it’s unoccupied to converse with A.

To that end, it also looks like someone’s posted a “Tutors and Study Groups” sign-up sheet on the hallway walls outside the A/V room. There are illustrated descriptions next to it, so even someone who doesn’t understand the writing should be able to glean its purpose. This seems like a good way for people who are interested in working together or helping one another with anything involved in school life. Students may make use of this resource as they will.

Finally, at the end of the hallway near the music room, a sliding wall has receded as if it was never there in the first place, revealing an unexplored area on this floor.. Hmm, what could be up there?

Unlike last week, Nanami can also be invited to participate in your threads with a (PREFECT) call-out. This is an option for anyone who wants non-private/event convos with her, if for some reason anyone wants to spend MORE time with her. If you are looking for information about the school’s mysteries, it's highly recommended you bring in the sheep or the mod journal instead!

I dunno if you're gonna be successful. That's brainwashing 101, though. Make it way past impossible to resist. Make it so even friends and family have a hard time knockin' you out of it.

Besides I glued a whole buncha the prefect's rules on the walls. The other capstone project is dumb.

Uh... Nothing much. I wasn't there when it happened, but... Sorry about Nicole. _{[He looked completely and utterly out of it. You couldn't blame him for not being his usual self, but... he desperately wished he could in this situation.]}

[At this, he takes out...a handheld computer. He flips it open.

It's a mostly blank screen. There's some basic applications on it and nothing else.]

Go on, ask Nicole a question. Or tell her to access her files, or request into on Drood Henge or just insult how blocky her outer casing is or how slow her processing is or...whatever! Doesn't matter!

There's nothin' there now! She's gone!!

[Fret is trying the vending machine out just a little, and out drops this bucket of worms.]

Well, that's, uh. Something. Do the animal people eat these or what?

[Worms are probably part of a hedgehog, bat or duck's diet, he thinks... but who knows how that works. The poopsie diaper dragon comes out next. He blinks at it in confusion and then just plops it on the store counter for grabs. One more shot!!

Ah. A mask. A hopeful, cheery mask. Doesn't that sound familiar?

But he is certainly not immune to Imprinting, so that surge of hope still warms his heart. Unfortunately he is still in the middle of thinking about what to do with all this stuff. Applying hope to that, well...]

...Ya knooow, this could be a good thing! Any protein's tasty if you barbecue it, right? [Did I mention he likes weird food ;;]

Science Lab

[Fret seems to have suddenly developed an interest in experiments that involve scattering light?? He's set himself up at the back of the class with a few supplies 'for science', which include all of the blacklight-capable flashlights he took out of the decon room yesterday, and some spare glass lightbulbs pilfered from the supply closet. Screwing the back off of that lightbulb, he fills it with water and tries shining the UV light on it to see if it scatters. It doesn't as much as he'd like (at least as far as he can tell with his naked eye. He really doesn't know much.) So he grumbles.]

Man, if only Boss was here... [Whatever he is trying here is clearly making him use his head more than he ever wanted to do. It's unusual to see him act serious, isn't it? Someone who Knows Things come at him before he starts mixing random chemicals into this bulb.]

Gym

[Well, he may or may not have managed to make anything at the end of the day, but you've got to start somewhere. If nothing else, he is at least gonna try taping up the aquarium light so it shines across the door here at ground level. If he managed to make something good in science class, that's getting set up next - slightly later. For now he is just kind of looking dryly at his handiwork and mumbling.]

Fret, you sure are heckin' doing this. Nobel Prize for plague busting, and the crowd goes wild...

[Adorabat can't help but notice something going on in the science lab, what with all the lightshows. She flutters on over and spots Fret. ...Adorabat has never talked to this person, but has seen Fret around.]

Whatcha doin with all those lights?

[indeed, he has seen her around! He didn't think bats would be interested in lights though. Learn something new every day]

Oh hey. These are blacklights, and... I need to make them bigger! Like, spotlight size or even more! We don't have a big wall of mirrors, so I'm trying to science it out.

A little faith please, Carrie. I think that quite a few of us are not all we should be, but that doesn't mean we have lost all the skills we acquired over lives full of learning, even discounting instinctual reactions. Most people's instincts are geared towards survival. I doubt everyone here is somehow an exception to that rule.

[The lack of reaction to him notwithstanding.]

I can understand a part of your apprehension, I suppose. As I understand it, some of those here have dangerous enemies, some of whom might be dangerous to more than themselves.

[Did he have any? The Volturi really were not enemies, after all. The tribe, perhaps, but they had lost their fangs. And the tribe certainly would not be interested in killing anyone but him, even if they were still any kind of threat.]

But there is no reason to assume that they will even be brought, and even if they are....

I don't plan to lose. Regardless of what I have to do to ensure that. I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way.

mmmm... We've all been here for nearly two weeks and I 'aven't really seen anything that would help with this. Maybe we can ask the prefect for some help?

Uh, maybe. Not really my first thought after she threw an eraser at me. Besides, doesn't she have to tell the Principal what we're doing if she knows about it?

That's not in any of the prefect's rules. Why'd she throw an eraser at you?

[Fret is taking a break from tinkering with the flashlights, growing tired enough that he is starting to consider simply replacing the school's wallpaper with aluminum foil. But there is no time for that, so checking on Sonic works.

Besides, he did notice his outburst earlier. It just - he just needed to stay away from reminders of personal loss right now, that's all. Doesn't mean he's not worried about him though.]

Oof. Even you're hitting the books, huh? What's eating you?

But the rules we see are the ones she and the Ramstermind wrote for US. We don't know what kinda rules Miss P has to operate on.
