Well! That was some tea party, huh? You've finally seen the faces (or perhaps the singular is more proper here?) of your captors. A pair of creepy twins seem to fit the overall theme of the Castle at least. Why not have Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum, after all?

Regardless, it doesn't seem that they're changing their minds any time soon. The first floor of the Castle is still open up to you. The Audience Hall is still locked most of the time so perhaps you can meet the Alices there if you need to. There are plenty of things to occupy your time before the inevitable slow erosion of your memories. If this is a game, who will make the first move? You or the twins?

[ Lena sets one inexplicable duck shoe on the butter floor, wobbles, and steps back with an expression of grossed-out annoyance. Instead of returning to kill the joy, however, she takes a few seconds to remove her shoes and socks, backs into the portrait gallery, and then uses it to build up a running start and lunge onto the butter, treating the floor like a slip-and-slide. The result is something like a combination of this and the Tom Cruise slide in Risky Business, it looks dumb as hell, and she's laughing the entire way.

Except the part where she has to stop her momentum by running straight into the table, like a kid at an ice rink stopping themselves by running into the wall. There's definitely an oof there! She casually hops up onto a chair and starts helping herself to some scrambled eggs. ]

Okay, but seriously, someone could die.

[There's some faint scuffling noises under the table before a voice calls out]

Is that our problem? It's their own fault if anyone dies.

That is, literally, the entire premise of this game.

[ One of the few convenient things about being a tiny duck in this environment is that you don't actually have to bend over backwards to look underneath a table while still sitting there!... because it's honestly amazing that her head is higher than the tabletop anyway and okay, it's not convenient at all. The point is she's looking under the table. ]

[ The table is looking back! Or at least three eyes are, because eyepatch life. ]

If someone's frail enough to die by falling on butter, it's still their fault. You're a duck and you survived.

Uh, yeah, because I'm great. And I think you're realllly underestimating how much those creeps want a bloodbath. Bacon?

Butter isn't enough for a bloodbath. If we lined the table with knives, maybe.

[Youji watches the offered bacon, but won't grab for it.]

Figure of speech. [ You snooze, you lose, she's taking a bite! And also kind of talking while eating, rude. ] Way more likely someone breaks their neck.

If we were trying to kill someone, it'd be way more obvious. Only old people break themselves like that and everyone here's a kid.

[ Natsuo also just watched the bacon with a wary eye. ]

I'm just saying. If you're gonna get killed, death by butter is maybe the lamest way to go.

... so who've you managed to get with this, anyway?

If you wanna make it a contest, we could probably find a more lame way to go.

On the other hand, would her input actually make them any less or more likely to do this? It feels like a no! ]

Killjoy, mouse, the patronizing blueberry, and the boring kid who wouldn't tell us anything. [ Natsuo's happy to supply the answer because he's more the one who keeps track of things. Seven should also be on that list but that would have to come later being that they had to spend considerable time in the shower after. ]

Lamer ways to die...what about getting stuck on a piece of gum and getting hit by a train. You'd have to be really stupid and weak to die like that.
