Afterparty the Third
[Yuta's gone. He can't do the after party. So now it's up to Sonic. Yes, Hunter was going to do it, or...at least yell at the sheep to do it, but Sonic pointed out they were going to need more than just apple slices. People were starving and the sheep couldn't cook. In his opinion, of course. How does one even bruise an apple like that!?
Hunter wasn't happy with him, and what's her face Jeanie probably hated his guts now, but honestly, who was happy with anything at this point?
So, the first thing he does is go to the kitchen and start to do the one thing he knows will at least help: cook. The food is back, and so he's going to make a hearty mean and veggie stew in the oven, courtesy of an old recipe that nanny Rosie would make when they were kids. Back before the takeover. After they got food in Knothole.
While the stew is stewing in the oven for a good hour or so, Sonic himself is just...stewing. And also making something with rice in the microwave to tie people over in the meantime. It's actually congee, but he thinks its hot rice pudding, so whatever, it's good to go for people.
And yes. He also has apple slices and graham crackers, Hunter insisted on it. And yes, he's made extra and enough for everyone and Nanami to have seconds if they'd like. They need to eat, albeit slowly so they don't get sick, and he makes notes at the cafeteria table stating that. Then he gets to work with a cookbook to try and make some kind of drink that can help with getting people back on their feet. Dylan does cover with chamomile tea, at least, so it's not as much of an urgent issue.
He's mostly staying in the kitchen if people want to bug him. When he does finally come out, he sits in silence, staring at his bowl of stew, picking at the carrots. He's tired. It's pretty obvious on his face.]

In the cafeteria, she stuffs spoonful after spoonful of stew into her mouth. As she finishes her first bowl, she sighs and stretches, enjoying the feeling of heat seeping down to the tips of her toes (for now). In fact, it seems that her portion alone isn't enough to satisfy her. For those that are eating a little too slowly, or perhaps just a little too emotionally overwhelmed to finish their meal, she leans over, and— ]
Hey, hey— Are you going to finish that?
[ But, as time passes... More and more, Yuta's absence weighs on Kuro's thoughts. Maybe she hadn't said it, but there was a part of her that was looking forward to mooching off his cooking when everything was said and done... In the end, she gets up from her seat, leaving her dirty bowl behind for someone else to clean up in her stead. She heads to the gym; tonight, when she throws a dodgeball against the wall, it isn't with any real fervor. It's quiet and contemplative—a steady and rhythmic thunk, thunk, thunk of rubber ricocheting from the wall.
It's only later, in the dormitory commons, that the consequences of her actions strike. Other returning students can find her sprawled out on the floor in a way that might be a little concerning with murder so fresh on the mind... If it weren't for the fact that her groaning marks her as obviously conscious, anyway. One of her arms is flopped across her brow, and sweat beads faintly on her skin. ]
I think... Maybe I overdid it...
Gym
...However, Adorabat can't really resist for too long, and upon return to the ball wall, she manages to snatch it with a wing before it hits the wall.]
Wanna take turns?

You're on.
[Her voice is low, growly, and eager. She gets over to one side of the room and waits for Kuro to her on the other.]
Ready?
no subject
Ready!
no subject
But this isn't a cartoon. So it doesn't happen.
What does happen is that Adorabat flaps in place a little to build up some anticipation, then will reach back, ball in wing, and throw it HARD. Kuro may not know the amount of physical strength this bat may hold, given that she once lifted up a heavy cart and smashed it with only a single wing.]
no subject
Haa~h, impressive! But... You'll need to do better... To defeat Homurahara Academy's dodgeball champion!
[ She fires back, plenty of strength to be found in her own compact body. It's aimed for Adorabat's big round face. ]

Adorabat gasps as the ball quickly approaches. It bashes into her face, sending her careening away. Adorabat bounces off of the floor a couple times, Not getting up from the floor, she grips her face, whimpering, as tears start forming in her eyes, and......Okay, none of that actually happened. Adorabat dopes get a little surprised by the speed of the ball, but she swiftly dodges diagonally, to the side and down. She lets it bounce off the wall before catching it with a wing, unfortunately fumbling. Adorabat gasps ad the ball nearly touches the ground, but Adorabat quickly goes after it, snatching before it reaching.]
...Whew. Close one...
no subject
Ah, good job, good job! Who knows what I would have done if you'd let me recover it~
[ Still, her posture remains poised to react to another strike. ]
no subject
[Yeah, that dodge was swift and perfect, but Adorabat seemed to be unused to catching fast, flying objects. A weakness Kuro can no doubt abuse. But be wary, Adorabat's looking for weaknesses in Kuro.
In any case, Adorabat throws it hard again, this time, aiming for a foot.]

She practically dives to reclaim it, more for the flair and fun of it than anything. Dodgeball is a pretty different game when it's one-on-one, but still— ]
Taaake—this!
[ Further back against the wall, rather than a hard pitch in a straight line, Kuro decides to alley-oop it in a high arc and hope the change of pace will catch Adorabat off-guard. ]

ADORASPIKE!
[She's having fun!]
DORM
If you vomit on me - oh, I defintely shouldn't make that joke right now. Just please don't. If I help you up you can make it into your bed, right?

[ If only the human mind weren't so susceptible to suggestion!! Kuro does manage to hold any temptation down, at least.
Her arm flops askew, just about as boneless as the rest of her. ]
I-it's not like I can't walk... The floor just, suddenly looked so cool and comfy.
[ It's also possible that her vigorous dodgeball game with Adorabat didn't help the situation. ]
no subject
[She smiles ruefully, almost looking nostalgic somehow.]
I've slept worse places even if today was absolutely the fucking worst day so far, so I get it, but you'll scare the hell out of everybody if I just leave you be out here.
no subject
[ She looks like she melted from the seat of a chair onto the floor below, so it might have been halfway on purpose to start. At some point, gravity definitely took over, though...
She lifts a hand up, waving it through the air above her. ]
Okay, okay— Help me up.

["Give me a fulcrum and a lever and I can move the whole world," some dead Greek guy said, once, a long long long time ago. Human limbs are levers, right? And it's not like Kuro's heavy, exactly....]
Is this worse or better than laying down?
no subject
[ Her face scrunches as she drags herself up. Some of the struggle in her expression fades once she's actually on her own two feet, at least. ]
It's... better than getting up.
[ In other words, lying down and standing upright are both easier than the part in between them. ]

I pray that there truly is enough for everyone. It is hard to trust the stock of the restored school.
no subject
It has to be. Look at it this way: If he can't even make good on something as little as this, why should we trust him when he makes bigger promises?
[ If he really wants them to all kill each other off, it'd be shooting himself in the foot. ]

[There's wryness in Jeanne's eyes. The mercenary attitude makes their situation seem less cosmically unjust. Like food is all that will be needed to fill the hole in Kuro's heart.]
Perhaps it is his budget in rage that must be recouped. Magical power.
no subject
[ Kuro peers at Jeanne from the corner of her eye, nibbling on the end of her spoon. ]
Well, either way. The cost of having food here in the first place almost certainly outweighs the labor part.
no subject
[She blinks in response to the peer, like a shrug.]
I do wonder if it is summoned or conjured. [love that she's talking to Kuro who will understand these are two different things] Though it is unlikely we can linger to analyze such fine details once we gain true hope for escape.
