WEEK FOUR

Monsters come in all shapes and sizes, it would seem.

The students of Ira Academy will find themselves entering the new week with their hunger sated, but it's likely the grisly scene of Friday's murder and the demonstration of the execution make the food hit much heavier. The risk of death is still very real, and astute watchers might also find it haunting to think about what sort of twisted game could have forced Yuta to lose control of his own actions. Or perhaps, for the fifth week in a row, people are just finding themselves angrier at their circumstances and their captor than ever.

After her release from the washing machine last week, Nanami Kiryuu can be found more often shadowing the other students around, hanging out in the periphery and putting in appearances even if she doesn't have information to share or announcements to pass on to the rest of the group - as long as no one makes an attempt to shoo her away.

The stairs open up to another newly remodeled floor, offering new locations that may prompt more answers to your dilemma--or more questions. There's no way to know which it will be. Thankfully, there's always a new mind-numbing relaxation activity to take in.

Welcome to Week 4! New locations are now open, a couple of old ones have been tweaked, and characters have started the next week of their education. Please hit the mods with a ping in Discord and put INVESTIGATE in your subject line if you're interested in exploring a new location. Nanami may be putting in some public appearances in threads this week; otherwise, please ping + Discord tag her or the (SHEEP) if you want to speak with then. All NPCs are still available for their private contacts as well!

As a reminder, AC runs Sunday to Sunday concurrent with these posts and is collected based on the prior week; this means you have a whole week to get in AC for the week prior. AC for week 3 should be submitted no later than this coming Sunday. Remember to submit your regains, and sign up for a spot exploring this week's mystery if you want to!

[Another week, another floor, another set of classes to not attend. It's starting to feel routine, and that's kind of scary to think about.

So, Dylan is trying to distract himself. Keeping stock of the first-aid station as well as doing some reading in the library, it seems like he's more or less in his element in these places.

He also checks out the nurse's room, because a new room to help take care of injuries? And it's even better than the last? Sounds great to him! May as well give it a thorough look through, taking stock and looking around the entire room. Just in case.

And of course, there's always lunch. Same usual for the most part, he gets a hot dog, eats it as he reads a book-'The Martian Chronicles'-and generally still seems conte-]

[And with that outburst, the dalmatian goes running out of the cafeteria.

Maybe it's the head start Dylan had, maybe it's his speed not being taken like Sonic's was, but the Dalmatian gets to the door first, jumping to turn the handle, revealing-

[ Hunter was looking for any books on leather-working. Or sewing. Whatever. He got a knife from the vending machine that needs a sheath...

But instead he finds a dog reading a book. Not that he's surprised by that, but he can't help but glance at the cover of the book Dylan's reading. ]

[One book of several, actually! He's got an orderly stack going on, with most of the book spines being some science fiction story or another-The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Martian, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, to name a few.

Currently, though? Human anatomy text book.]

Dylan points to a row of shelves, every book on them being noticeably thick.]

Textbook section. It was between a health textbook and a textbook about translating hieroglyphics.

[ Looking over at the shelves. ]

Okay... I get the health textbook [ the dog really is filling the body touching void... ] but what are the hieroglyphics for?

I have no idea. Having another subject that starts with H?

[The sad part is that he can't even say that it sounds stupid-learning hieroglyphics could be fun and useful, archeology wise!]

[Adorabat? In the library? It's more likely than you think! Adorabat flies up to Dylan and takes a peek at the book he's reading.]

A book called "The Martian." It's about a human getting stuck on Mars, and having to survive while also trying to find a way to get back home.

It's pretty good so far!

[Adorabat... oddly looks a little frustrated. It can also be noticed by the little huff she gives, landing and crossing her wings.]

I haven't been able to find any books that help me ivessigate better.

Well, what do you want to work on? General observation? A specific thing that could help when investigating?

I... I didn't think I was very helpful last trial... I know everyone was really, really hungry, me, too... but I still feel bad about it. I want to help more next time, and I just thought if I know how to investigate bodies, I can help better.

Well...first of all, I'm pretty sure that won't be too necessary. I've been studying up on things myself, and while I'm definitely not an expert in it, I think I've got things under control. Hopefully Sonic's been studying as well.

But. I think I could help you with some things. Even outside of investigating, it could be helpful for you to some things about injuries.

[There are a lot of supplies here. Some modern, some not. All seem like they could be useful if you knew how to use them.

There’s a crumpled up piece of paper in one of the medicine bottles you’re sure that shouldn’t be there.]

[Japanese Tom Thumb? Where Tom Thumb came from and the English stole it from? Some surprising coincidence? He has no idea, he doesn't know enough about either culture to really make a claim with certainty.

Anything else to note with this story? Or is the medicine bottle something to pay attention to?]
