INVESTIGATION

After last Friday's horrific discovery, the march toward the weekend must be filled with dread for some of Ira Academy's students. This week, the Principal's tailored threats became even more personal. Tuesday's motive announcement received a more noticeable reception across several members of the student body. In most cases, this would be a blessing: Good children care about protecting their loved ones.

Now, however, it's a threat. Someone with loved ones to protect might have felt there was nothing left to lose--except, perhaps, another classmate. Despite the lack of a real sun (or, truly, any genuine weather outside at all) the morning is a gloomy, cursed one. For anyone feeling concerned about what might be waiting out there, it might be a little hard to emerge from the warm safety of bed. Others may have felt the oppressive fear on the other end of things, unable to fall into a true sleep and still wide awake come morning.

Will this Friday see a repeat of last week, gruesome and bloody early in the morning? Or has everyone chosen to wait out the danger, refusing to give in to their fears? There's only one way to find out.

ART ROOM

[Paint me like one of your puritan girls.]

[Not exactly in the art room, per se, but.]

HEY! EDWARD! GET YOUR BUTT TO THE ART ROOM!!!

[bellabellabella]

[He had been in the shower when the announcement came on, and for a moment had simply become still, head bowing under the stream, muscles stiff. He is a little slow in moving again after, and is not finished getting ready by the time Sonic bursts into his room. His hair is still dark with water, but the expression in his eyes is darker.

Theres a sort of resigned blankness to his voice when he speaks.]

You found her?

Yeah, man, I was goin' up there in the art room and I found her.

You...you need to get in there. Look at the...the body and stuff.

[bellabellabella]

He takes a deep breath, and his hands clench into white knuckled fists for a moment before he stands, pulling on his uniform jacket with a sort of numb sense of routine.]

All right. You'd better come with me to keep me honest. I wouldn't want anyone else to die, and we know how this goes now.

[canreallymove]

Right, no problemo.

[It's totally a problemo given how shaky his hands are, but he'll go.]

[bellabellabella]

[Edward walks with Sonic up the staircase to touch the body. He hates this, he hates this, but Sonic was there asking for his help. How is he supposed to protect everyone who is still alive?]

[violence_ensues]

[After a minute, Adorabat bursts into the room.]

I'M HERE CLEAR OUT SHERIFF INVESTIGATING TIME!

[Without any regard to anyone else in the room, Adorabat will begin scanning around for any evidence besides the body.]

[There's a lot of paint, for one.]

[violence_ensues]

[Hmm, paint, she sees. Adorabat sort of made her one of her go-to places. Are there any colors there that shouldn't be, or vice versa?]

[There isn't any new colors and no colors are missing, apart from the large bucket of red paint that you can see near Thomasin.]

[violence_ensues]

[Adorabat will take a peek inside. Does it look completely empty, or is there more inside?]

[Since Yasu has practically lived in the art room for the past week, she's well-equipped to give it a thorough investigation. Is there anything subtly off about the room other than the obvious corpse and gallons of red paint spread everywhere?]

[whimsicalism]

[There is, actually. It looks like there should be more paint in some places.]

[keyringwitness]

[As in, even accounting for all the red paint spilled around Thomasin, there's more paint missing than there should be? Is it just the red that's missing, or are more colors gone, too?

Yasu begins patrolling around the room, taking it in in its entirety. Are there any signs of a struggle?]

[whimsicalism]

[It would be hard to notice at first glance but if Yasu takes her time it does seem that there are a few spots around the art room that have been recently cleaned.

There doesn't seem to be any signs of a struggle.]

[Hmmmmm. Yasu goes back to the doorway and walks a path toward Thomasin's body. Are the oddly-clean spots near the path she's tracing here? In essence, she's trying to deduce if the culprit learned from last week and cleaned up their footprints.]

Re: ART ROOM

_{[Well, it's time he investigated this place. He's going to check around the tables and chairs first.]}

[There's nothing you can see that looks different about the tables or chairs.]

THE BODY

[bellabellabella]

[Edward's steps are a little heavy as he walks back to the art room after being summoned by Sonic. His eyes go to Thomasin immediately, and he looks very tired, but he still dutifully walks over to her and checks for what condition the body is in.]

[whimsicalism]

[The first obvious thing is that she's front first in the paint with her head at an awkward angle. You shouldn't be able to see her face at this angle. A stool is near her head and the paint bucket near her feet is being examined by Adorabat.]

[bellabellabella]

[He reaches out to touch her, very gently, and silently closes her eyes, head bowed, before he reaches out with the same hand and touches her neck, feeling for the break he knows is there. He can feel any residual body heat still in her, and should be able to give an estimated time of death. He glances over at the stool, then at her head. Are there any marks on it?]

[Yes, there definitely is a break there but there's no marks on the stool. As for time of death maybe five hours.]

[bellabellabella]

[He stares blankly for a moment, eyes not really focused on anything, watching as Adorabat examines the paint can, looking at the stool near Thomasin's head.]

She might have tripped, and hit her head, and broken her neck.

[It feels like he has to say it.]

But I suppose murder is more likely. Whether she was pushed, or whether her neck was broken by other means.

[What else is obvious about her? Her clothes??]
