WEEK 2

[whimsicalism]

The first week at the castle passes without any (recent) murders. Mysteries were found, questions asked, bonds formed, and Halloween celebrated. Now as Sunday 'dawns', you might feel your mind a little lighter as your first memories fade. Will this be just a week celebrating the (questionably) best thing about October or will more sinister things be afoot?

Either way, it looks like the Alices will continue their game.

It's...really bad, isn't it?

...Yes... It is...

[He closed his eyes and let a few tears flow.]

I... I didn't think the memories I lost would- [He sniffled, wiping his face with a sleeve.] Would hurt the way I approach you...

[She pulls back from the hug a bit, so she can look him in the eye.] What...do you mean by that? [She lifts a sleeve to wipe at his tears a bit when she asks that.]

I wrote it down... That I said you reminded me of One before my memories of her were gone. You used to have that bit of familiarity of my normal life. I want that feeling back. But it was taken with my memory...

[He wanted to call her sis and truly mean it now, but how could he when his mind didn't understand what his actual sister was like anynore?]

[Oh...that definitely makes her look distressed.] I...I see. I'm so sorry that you lost that... [She reaches out to hug him tighter.] Do...do you think there's something I can do to help bring back that feeling?

I... I'm not sure. But please, stay with me for a while longer... [He's surprisingly receptive to the hugs... so much so he'll lift her up and hug her into his chest.]

[Being lifted does get a momentary surprised sound out of her...but she quickly adjusts to wrap her arms as far around his chest as she can.]

...no problem. I can definitely do that.

[He nodded and closed his eyes momentarily, his breathing getting steadier.]

...Let's do our best together.

...yeah. [She pats his shoulder gently.] Were you...reciting poetry, before I came in?

Dante's Inferno, John Milton's translation. I once stumbled upon it and flipped through pages, and upon seeing the depiction of Lucifer I dropped the book and cried to Momma. The passage I'd just recited always stayed with me for some reason.

...I used to read poetry to Mr. Stripey-Pants, so I thought... reading it to Fido would help me.

...you recited it pretty well. [A pause as she leans against him.] Did it help?

A-Ah, thank you! [He. blushed. validation!!] I guess it did at first but seeing you reminded me of... the problem I had. Staying like this, though... It really does help.

Oh, good. I'm glad to give more hugs if they'll help more, too.

I'd love that, yes. [He reached over to the bookshelf he had been sitting at.] I wonder what other poetry there is here...
