WEEK 1
WEEK ONE
This week, students at Ira Academy must return to class with their memories of the weekend hanging over them. The Principal is watching now, and he dislikes children even more than his initial draconian idea of education led everyone to believe. The rules revision is probably at the forefront of most people’s minds, along with the sinking paranoia of being monitored much more closely and more severely reprimanded for stepping out of line. This very empty academy building suddenly feels all the more claustrophobic. All students now have the option to commit murder and be freed from this school. Less than a week ago, you were teaching yourself to be friends with some of your fellow classmates. Will things remain that way, or will someone reveal themselves to be willing to take a life to escape?
But just because murder’s on the table doesn’t mean that your studies are off of it, and the Little Brothers are still here to helpfully encourage all students to complete their coursework. Despite being shepherded away at the end of the school dance announcement last night, this week the Prefect will be back for her office hours and, thankfully, less fixated on pulling off a successful weekend spelling bee and social event. Less thankfully, it seems she believes that completing your re-education as originally planned is the correct course of action. You’d do well to remember, perhaps, that right now your success reflects ultimately on her. Students who prefer to see how their fellow school denizen and prisoner-in-spirit can also sneak into the music room whenever it’s unoccupied to converse with A.
To that end, it also looks like someone’s posted a “Tutors and Study Groups” sign-up sheet on the hallway walls outside the A/V room. There are illustrated descriptions next to it, so even someone who doesn’t understand the writing should be able to glean its purpose. This seems like a good way for people who are interested in working together or helping one another with anything involved in school life. Students may make use of this resource as they will.
Finally, at the end of the hallway near the music room, a sliding wall has receded as if it was never there in the first place, revealing an unexplored area on this floor.. Hmm, what could be up there?

OOC NOTES
Welcome to Week 1! As with last week, if you have anything you’d like to investigate, you can bring mod responses in by pinging (INVESTIGATION) in your subject line. (SHEEP) for the Little Brothers. Unlike last week, Nanami can also be invited to participate in your threads with a (PREFECT) call-out. This is an option for anyone who wants non-private/event convos with her, if for some reason anyone wants to spend MORE time with her. If you are looking for information about the school’s mysteries, it's highly recommended you bring in the sheep or the mod journal instead!
Don’t forget your regains, and please submit your AC for week 0!

[ He miiight also have drowsed through that particular sermon, back home. Give him a break. Church is early and he's a sleepy boy. ]
Ah - yes, I suppose if you've no other pressing obligations, you could serve our lunch as well. Come along.
[ This to Yasu, of course, or at least in Yasu's direction. She really is remarkably efficient. He should have made his parents hire him his own kid-size maid years ago. ]
Shall we, Jeanne?
[ Turning back towards her, he presents his elbow for Jeanne to take, like he's seen his father do for his mother at fancy occasions. Possibly of note, this is the first time he's used another student's first name (though, to be fair, Jeanne really doesn't... have any others). ]

[Yasu follows behind Valmont and Jeanne with her hands clasped in front of her, fading into the background. What was it that he always said, again? A servant should be like furniture: always there when needed, but unseen and unacknowledged when not. Yasu is taking to that philosophy with what would be enthusiasm if enthusiasm wasn't unsightly in this case.]

[Jeanne takes a moment to mentally step back. She is about to receive the service of another that has been commanded, not requested. This goes against the virtue of charity. But she deludes herself: there is an evenness to Yasu's voice even as she disappears. Surely Valmont himself recognizes this and his created the obligations where there are none, the raison d'etre?
What is his arm even doing. But they're both wearing long sleeves. At least she can take it without even touching. Fancycore.]
We shall.

But Valmont's not complaining about having a pretty girl on his arm. And Jeanne's not even wrong about his motivation, sort of. He's just giving Yasu something to do! No point having a maid if you don't make her earn her keep, right? ]
Do make sure my tea has enough sugar in it this time, Yasu.
[ Sure, last time he said two lumps, and he got two lumps. But it turned out he actually wanted it sliiiightly sweeter than that, which obviously she should have innately known. Using her maid senses.
Anyway: they set off. ]
no subject
Of course, as bleak as her internal monologue may be, she doesn't let an ounce of it show on her face.] Of course, Mister Valmont. [A curtsey, and she's off to the kitchen to make tea with two lumps and a TINY SPRINKLE just for you, Valmont,]

[This seems to make Jeanne have thoughts and to be more grateful for the support of her escort suddenly. She lets Yasu leave, almost forces it with the darkness in her face.]
...I don't remember how much Marco put in... I don't even know how much he told Lyserg to put in... [Valmont is not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, so she will add:] My fellow X-Laws...
no subject
[ As always, Valmont sounds a little offended at someone bringing up a concept he's not familiar with, presumably in the intent of spiting him, specifically. But the word "X-Laws" is tickling at the corner of his brain. It was in Jeanne's profile, right...? ]
That's some... group that you belong to back home?
no subject
[Yasu whips up the tea in record time, daintily placing it on a platter with two steaming cups for them before scooting away, crossing her fingers, and praying that Valmont won't need anything else from her.]
no subject
[Wow, she can grab this cup with her pinky out and everything, because it's piping hot! Maybe it is too hot for Yasu because she is just dying to get it out of her paws.]
Please pour yourself some when you feel ready. [Surely Yasu is nervous about it. Hm, will this work?] Do not let the rest of the kettle go to waste.
[So, about the X-Laws... she looks into the surface of the tea in her cup. This isn't worth complaint to her, but she does see now that it's not what she remembers. Marco liked it darker.]
The X-Laws are as brothers in arms. I lead them in our fight for justice.
no subject
Mm. Adequate. You're dismissed, Yasu.
[ For now, of course. He'll still expect her to pop up at his elbow the next time he doesn't feel like doing any minor task. Having a servant is so convenient. ]
Justice, is it? What are you, a police force?
[ That might be something of an obstacle to their relationship, if so. But other worlds are probably outside their jurisdiction anyway. ]
go ahead and continue the thread w/o her if you'd like
Jeanne might get the odd feeling that someone is praying to not get noticed.]She will be dearly missed!!
