WEEK ONE

This week, students at Ira Academy must return to class with their memories of the weekend hanging over them. The Principal is watching now, and he dislikes children even more than his initial draconian idea of education led everyone to believe. The rules revision is probably at the forefront of most people’s minds, along with the sinking paranoia of being monitored much more closely and more severely reprimanded for stepping out of line. This very empty academy building suddenly feels all the more claustrophobic. All students now have the option to commit murder and be freed from this school. Less than a week ago, you were teaching yourself to be friends with some of your fellow classmates. Will things remain that way, or will someone reveal themselves to be willing to take a life to escape?

But just because murder’s on the table doesn’t mean that your studies are off of it, and the Little Brothers are still here to helpfully encourage all students to complete their coursework. Despite being shepherded away at the end of the school dance announcement last night, this week the Prefect will be back for her office hours and, thankfully, less fixated on pulling off a successful weekend spelling bee and social event. Less thankfully, it seems she believes that completing your re-education as originally planned is the correct course of action. You’d do well to remember, perhaps, that right now your success reflects ultimately on her. Students who prefer to see how their fellow school denizen and prisoner-in-spirit can also sneak into the music room whenever it’s unoccupied to converse with A.

To that end, it also looks like someone’s posted a “Tutors and Study Groups” sign-up sheet on the hallway walls outside the A/V room. There are illustrated descriptions next to it, so even someone who doesn’t understand the writing should be able to glean its purpose. This seems like a good way for people who are interested in working together or helping one another with anything involved in school life. Students may make use of this resource as they will.

Finally, at the end of the hallway near the music room, a sliding wall has receded as if it was never there in the first place, revealing an unexplored area on this floor.. Hmm, what could be up there?

Welcome to Week 1! As with last week, if you have anything you’d like to investigate, you can bring mod responses in by pinging (INVESTIGATION) in your subject line. (SHEEP) for the Little Brothers. Unlike last week, Nanami can also be invited to participate in your threads with a (PREFECT) call-out. This is an option for anyone who wants non-private/event convos with her, if for some reason anyone wants to spend MORE time with her. If you are looking for information about the school’s mysteries, it's highly recommended you bring in the sheep or the mod journal instead!

MOVIE NIGHT

[Eventually, Reika is satisfied with how she's set things up, and she goes around and tells everyone she's going to be showing a movie in the reception room.

Which she is! It is, in fact, the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland. Shocking! She's arranged the furniture so there's room for everyone to sit, as noted, and she's even made popcorn that she's distributed into several mixing bowls. She starts the DVD around seven, though it takes a few minutes to struggle through everything that's coming soon to own on video and Disney DVD so people who arrive late will have some extra time.]

[Adorabat is one of the first arrivals.]

[Nobody is surprised by this.]

I'll be starting it in just a few minutes. Do you like popcorn, Adorabat-chan?

[Adorabat flies over and takes perch on one of the couch arms.]

Yes, please!

[Anya waddles in, taking a bowl of popcorn, sitting in a comfortable seat.]

Anya hasn't seen this movie.

[It's not a Bond movie, or another spy movie, or a spy movie Papa would actually let her see with no fuss like Spies in Disguise...so she doesn't know it. How exciting!]

[Sadly Reika cannot read minds so she can't see the one track Anya's is on.]

[Well, he made a whole bucket load of chili dogs earlier (thanks, now-useless Power Ring D:), so he reheats them quick in the oven for people to munch on.

When he sees what the movie is, he blinks.]

Oh yeah, it's the thing from the vending machine! Right?

[He'll settle down to watch at least, but his attention doesn't seem to be entirely on the movie, occasionally glancing over at the others.]

[ Hunter's here! He wasn't expecting anything too interesting but he ends up munching his popcorn to some actually enjoyable content. ]

This is so much better than what they're having us read in literature class...

[ That being said... Maybe he's thinking this is awesome because it serves as a much needed distraction? ]

[Well, Dylan was planning to have a meeting today, but...a movie does sound like a good morale boost, and things aren't looking to bad at the moment, so...]

Any chance some of the popcorn is plain? I can't really have any that has butter or anything.

I think I already--no, wait! The leftover popcorn that's still in the pot shouldn't have any butter on it.

[There's really no logical reason she'd have left some, but dammit, I want him to be able to have the popcorn.]

[He'll go and retrieve it, pushing it along with his head.]

I know humans like it with all sorts of additives like butter and salt, but that's a bit of a health hazard for dogs, you know?

[He could say a story, but he knows no one will enjoy it, so it's not happening!]

So, what's the movie?

[ Okay, so, on the one hand, this is obviously a baby film. For babies. And so it follows that Valmont, who is by at least some estimations not a baby, should leave this type of foolishness to his classmates and go read a book or something.

...But on the other hand, like. He's never seen this one. And home video is only the barest sliver of a thing when he's from. And he did enjoy the book. And shut up. Valmont pulls up a chair in the back and tries not to enjoy himself too conspicuously. ]

You know, this is actually called an Alice headband, after the movie. There are probably more in the machine that I can show you.

[She doesn't take any popcorn. This is actually late by her standards - she's almost melting into the couch. Just extremely soft and peaceful.]

[And, you know, take our minds off how the only thing standing between them and Huge Villain Teamup is the prospect of one of them suddenly turning out to be a murderer.
