By Friday morning, some of Ira Academy's best and brightest are likely feeling the effects of a few days' hunger. For a few, tensions have probably heightened, or sleeping to while away the time has become either easier or harder. Probably no one is even pretending to pay attention to classes any longer.

The sinister pattern of the past few weeks has also been difficult to ignore. Even with an indefinite deadline on the motive this week, Friday likely arrives with as sense of sick anticipation. It's time for students to wake up - or at least leave another sleepless night behind - and come see what the weekend has in store.

But as you step out of your room this Friday morning, however, you may notice that something is off right away, even if sleep or hunger or both are making you bleary. You might not want to leave the hallway outside of the dorm rooms right away and instead convene with the other students before moving on to any other locations.

[Well...he and Dylan had discussed it, and ultimately, he did decide to go on a quick patrol jaunt. But that had been at another time in the night, and now, it was morning.

He opens his door, ready to get the rations up and done for the mday...]

[Something odd happens when you open the door and step forward, Sonic. Something wet hits your shoes. You look down and there's blue paint on your shoes.]

[Jeanne is dressed in the school uniform and pretty cranky. If Sonic didn't sign his own death warrant, did someone else?]

[Dylan knows what to expect, and he hates it. The dread is rising at the same rate as his hunger. All he can do is accept it.

He steps out of his dorm room, into the hallway, and takes a big sniff.

What's things smell like today?]

[A lot of things, actually, but probably the first thing you smell is paint. Some red paint sticks to your paws when you walk through your door.]

[Okay well I guess he's in the dorm hallway? He's definitely on the bleary end of things, turns out quick library naps don't actually help with starvation all that much.]

[Congratulations, Yuta! You have stepped into red paint.]

[Emma rolls slowly out of bed, opening the door and quickly stepping out and closing it behind her, making sure Polly is safe inside.]

[Good thing, too. You don't want to get blue paint all over Polly.]

[Well, she's down one neighbor already. Carrie's going to knock on Hunter's door, though...

...and after the announcement, try the knob to see if it's locked. Even if it isn't, though, there's more important things to bother with - she won't go in.]

Oh neat, what fresh hell do we get today?

[This is definitely a sign of bad things to come. And he's grouchy from starving. Let's get this over with. The obvious choice to investigate is the art room.]

[The speakers come on, with the sheep signing frantically.]

Congratulations! Valmont is dead! [Father sighs.] I'm not saying his title. It fits for him but still! I have dignity! Go gather clues and then you can celebrate.

[Adorabat hears the announcement from her room. She makes a whiny noise and covers her yes with her wings. She doesn't want to help investigate. Not while she's so hungry...]

You have dignity? So did he, once, you blistered prick.

[Yep. Yelling at the ceiling. It is that kind of day, but her heart's barely in it this time. More important is that Jeanne isn't going to be taking this well....]

[All right. Paint aside... from just outside room nine, is there anything immediately, visibly really out of place?]

[Thankfully Nanami isn't here right now.]

[Yasu kept quiet during the morning, quite possibly giving her classmates a heart attack when she finally emerged from her room unscathed. (Listen, some nights you just need to sleep in, especially after driving yourself crazy with trying to figure out a way to stop hypothetical sacrifice-powered rituals.) After getting briefed on the situation, she hustles over to the laundry room. There was a pattern that was forming: blood in the art room before Thomasin's murder, Nanami found in the laundry room now... it was worth checking, at least.

Plus, all the paint everywhere makes it a good place to check out anyways.]
