WEEK 2

[whimsicalism]

The first week at the castle passes without any (recent) murders. Mysteries were found, questions asked, bonds formed, and Halloween celebrated. Now as Sunday 'dawns', you might feel your mind a little lighter as your first memories fade. Will this be just a week celebrating the (questionably) best thing about October or will more sinister things be afoot?

Either way, it looks like the Alices will continue their game.

If someone like you finds this suspicious, she's really, really, sucking at this whole welcoming host thing.

[ In Natsuo's case he's poking around but that seems to be all he's interested in doing. ]

I realize you disagree with my approach to things here, but I'm not naive, you know.

[ He wouldn't have tried to set up this whole accountability system to try to prevent getting away with murder if he didn't think it was likely that someone would do it!! ]

Anyway, after being so adamant at the beginning of the week that they'd convince someone to kill before it was over, holding any kind of event this close to the deadline feels like it must be intended as a trap of some sort.

You're trusting people you barely know, that's being naive.

[ Hmm who showed up to this sleepover anyway...there's a pause where Natsuo looks around. ]

An obvious one, but there are some pretty stupid people here so she might get lucky~.

I think I made it pretty clear to you before that it wasn't actually about trust. I'm well aware of the things people are capable of.

[ huff ]

Hopefully not, but...

[ But there are some pretty obvious easy targets around, though he feels bad thinking of them that way. ]

Maybe watching some of this junk will actually work to their benefit if it makes them more wary of what's going on around them tonight.

[ Potatoe, potatoh, because being in a group with someone is a matter of trust no matter how it shakes out in Natsuo's eye. ]

Banking on being the biggest scaredy-cat isn't a winning strategy. Besides, if they stay here and fall asleep they're an easy target anyway.

Hence why anyone who ended up too scared to sleep could actually be at an advantage.

Only if they don't get so scared that they don't do stupid things like in all the horror movies.

At least the ones most at risk of having that kind of reaction probably wouldn't be the ones with murderous intent in the first place, so hopefully they wouldn't have come armed and wouldn't be as hard to stop if it came to that.

[ He doesn't really like leaving things at "probably" and "hopefully" when he can help it, though. ]

Maybe it's a matter of finding a movie with the right balance.

[Mizuki is restless in a nightgown over full-length pajamas, running her hand up and down her forearm.]

It is a trap. For the kids who aren't here.

Hmm? Because they're alone? Or because they're gonna get blamed if something happens? [ Natsuo is dressed in this which could honestly half pass for a night gown, but actually isn't. ]

Second one. [Her smile is tight.] I'm trying to stay one step ahead.

You're gonna do that anyway to everyone who's not part of your groups. And besides, if someone's going to do something a party is a pretty decent cover unless everyone stays together all the time. [ It's very matter of factly and not as snide or sing-song as his words tend to be. ]

You think that's how it is with—Franziska?

[She says that quickly, not at all ignoring how he thinks it comes off. Then, sarcastic, bitter but directed exclusively at world/herself:]

Time to put a tripwire over the exit so nobody gets funny ideas about punch-drunk teenagers staggering home. Oh, wait.

Maybe. I don't know you all very well and you don't know us very well.

[ There's a bit of a shrug followed by a swish of his tail. ]

Aha, now that might be worth sticking around for.

[Us? Oh. She's about to roll her eyes; then something occurs to her.]

You know, I never actually got to ask. Are you guys, like, related??

[What if they're cousins. That would be exactly their brand of epic troll.]

No, we're fighter and sacrifice, it's completely different. At school we go by twins, but that's only because normal people are too stupid to understand.

[ Twins is honestly close, though. Except for the puncturing of societal norms when it comes to boundaries, but alas, this is Loveless. ]

If you're from Japan too, I can't blame you. People at my school freak out about untraditional families for sure.

[ There's a quirk of his ears which seems to be "yes" to Japan. ]

Ahaha, and they get bullied for it right?

Depends. Sometimes the class can find someone even easier for them to pick on like a kid with a learning disorder.

[slams her fist into her palm and grinds it]

Or they take a break after someone actually fights back.

[ His gaze pivots from her first then to her face at the display, interest flashing. ]

That's what we do if someone tried. [ Well they would do more than fight back perhaps but, details. ]

If the other person just takes it then that's all on them.

[Her teeth show in her lopsided smile. She feels like they're connecting but doesn't really want to accept this part... At least he wouldn't want her to just submit, right?]

Look, maybe that makes sense, but I don't think that way. Ally of justice, protect the weak, whatever. How can anyone feel proud of themselves as some bystander?
