Week 2 Post-Trial
[ The trial itself may have been pretty straightforward, but with how high emotional tensions were running afterward, there's probably no one feeling like organizing any kind of gathering right now.
So, go do your thing until a new week starts, and write down those memories you don't want to forget. ]

[There's distinctly careless laughter coming from the media room, and hopefully it's not while Franziska is ensconced in here trying to get some peace, because Niko isn't particularly interested in giving anyone peace today. Not that there's been true peace since they've gotten here.
But that's not her problem anymore, is it?
Some days you just dispense with the tutorial and go straight for the boss stage; some days that may in fact be literal, as she seems somewhat more animated than she was before or during trial if you peek in -- she's stretched out on one of the various couches available for presumed seating, ferociously bashing her way through a game on... is that a PSP? That sure is a PSP.]
Hahaha! Take that! Haaah, this is so much more satisfying than whatever the hell this castle thinks is good entertainment.
[... Judging by the SFX coming from the tinny little speakers, there's more than one character or monster getting the shit beat out of them just now. Hey, everyone has their own way of coping?!]
Honestly, get us some real videogames and half this castle would either lose their minds and forget to kill each other or kill each other faster for controllers. You don't think so?
2.0 | Wildcard is as Wildcard Does (Anywhere)
[She can probably be found a-wandering around the castle, paying special attention to the dining hall, where she can be found stocking up on junk food because #yolo and local cook is deda, and the laundry room where she is, in fact, diligently doing laundry at some point.]

[Mizuki would have stood with her hand on the doorframe watching Niko's new zippers glint in the blinking lights no matter what. But that idea of being from a cooler future... everything fits. It makes her feel insecure, yet fascinated. She riffs, without enthusiasm.]
This GameChild thing nobody recognized came out of the machine with all the other stickers and workbooks, and it was literally loaded with, like, Shuffleboard.

Handhelds are practically antiques already, so only some dumb hipsters or middle-aged farts would be really into them anymore. It's about as in vogue as the rest of this place, though, I guess?
[The impressive thing is how she manages that spiel without once looking away from her screen or stopping her abuse on the buttons. She really is probably bashing them a little harder than needed.....]
And I've never heard of a GameChild at all. Are you sure that vending machine isn't just a big prank most of the time?

[She walks in closer to see. She guesses that it's not even a Vita which is also already dead. Still, the phrase paints a pretty picture of Niko's world, though Nagisa heard the place was ugly in other ways. Hm.]
Pretty much everything I got was junk that was better for parts, so—we both know that's pointless now. Next topic? [She tugs her finger back and forth to indicate the connection between Niko and herself.] Are you... mad at me or anything? For dragging you into our nerd LARP? I don't want to just wonder about it and be awkward.

[She snickers like they were out there having a barbecue or something.
There's still no particular movement besides what's needed for gaming as Mizuki approaches, though Niko is, miraculously, still listening over the sounds of intensifying battle and popping noises and bloodshed?? There's, finally, the raise of a small eyebrow over the screen.]
Why would I be mad about something so petty? I wouldn't have gone along with it if it weren't useful in some way. Though, actually, it turned out to be more useless than expected. [that's said quite carelessly, but matter-of-fact; there doesn't seem to be resentment here so much as dismissal] Besides, I'm a guild leader. It turned out to be a funny bit of roleplay.

...well, your taste in snacks is still pretty choice. Honestly, there aren't many slumber parties I actually get invited to. So if you talked trash behind my back—that kind of thing wouldn't surprise me. I'm just glad I can still trust you.
Like, carefully.
[God where does she even put her hands, pockets? PSPs don't have extra controllers. She's so bad at this.]

...Soooo. Why were you faking being nice, anyway? I'd get it if you were trying to make allies to survive, but then there wasn't a reason to drop the act so suddenly. Couldn't have been to fit in either, a lot of us are kind of jerks so if anything you stood out as the nice one. Were you just doing that for fun?

Niko cocks her head at him and looks for all the world like she's the same girl as she was just yesterday -- there's even a sparkle in her eye, but that might be directed at the slice of pie she just snatched from in front of him.]
Why wouldn't I fake being nice, Uno-kun? I'm juuust a helpless little girl, after all.
[It's in the way she draws out the word; in that split second the little smile on her face curls at the corner, just a touch sneeringly, baring a hint of a small canine. She goes on in a more normal tone, that is to say, brisk and dropping at least half an octave:]
How was I supposed to know what kind of place this was? Until we got through the tutorial and really figured out a little of what was going on here, it was easier to have people underestimate me or at least be a little freer with information around me.
And that's exactly what happened, wasn't it?

And so Niko is greeted by a narrowed jade green eye peeking around the corner, ears peaked. ]
Hey, that's ours! [ He's not sure if it's theirs but it sounds like the game he's played a bunch of, so good enough. ]

[Niko spits it out with both distraction and disdain, though judging by the way she sits up and sets one small foot on the floor, he's not about to catch her unawares despite the fact that she hasn't looked away from the screen at all.
In fact, her expression is still a half-smirk despite it all. Possibly the game is still more important than some cat with zoomies.]
I'm not seeing any names on this thing, and whoever was messing around with it last didn't get any real impressive scores anyway. [she's totally looking down on their gaming history...... there's a flicker of her eyes towards the intruder, finally, though it's just a sardonic sort of peek] Besides, you really think anybody's going to believe you two with that track record of yours?
no subject
Should a faker really be talking about belief?
no subject
[Which, considering she's the only one who's played it recently (or apparently with any verve yet), is also kind of a convenient excuse, but it's not like Niko ever claimed to be perfectly on the up-and-up. Case in point: the giggle with which she said the words, sugar with a hint of spice.
Her head tilts slightly in Natsuo's direction in lieu of anything like cat ears, subtly tracking his movements.]
Oh, I wouldn't call it faking. After all, in that case, anyone who adjusts their behavior to go along with society would be a faker all day and every day.
I just felt like test-driving this little community before I got my feet wet.

And that's still hiding who you are no matter what the reason.
