Reactions to the Principal’s last announcement Tuesday were certainly mixed. Can the Principal do as he says and bring a dangerous threat from everyone’s homes, eager for revenge? Whether he can or he can’t, a student who believed it to be possible could have easily taken him up on his offer and turned on another classmate. Of course, it could all be a lie–a story to scare children into behaving themselves. But can everyone take that risk?

With no weekend class events scheduled, Friday is perhaps the highlight of the school week. Just one more day, and it will be the weekend! Fun, friends, and excitement await!

… If only that excitement could carry over into Friday morning at Ira Academy. As students go about their mornings, they may drift into various areas of the school. It’s early enough that classes haven’t started yet.

What will you investigate?

HOW IT WORKS

While most folks have likely been through this song and dance before, here's a quick breakdown of how investigation runs at Castle W:

1. Post with your character indicating the area they're visiting this morning.
2. The mod journal will reply letting you know if the area is normal, if something might be a little off and you'll want to check back later, or if something's VERY off.
3. Once the something VERY has been uncovered, the discovery will be announced, and mods will post a comment highlighting the areas of the school that have clues and toplevels for these areas.
4. Tag into the toplevels for these areas if you'd like your character to look for clues there.

[Well... Adorabat's already in the gym. There's no police tape around, so she can't exactly set that up, so she'll just go straight to the investigating. She looks around the room. Is there anything suspicious?]

[Other than the body? Yes, actually! There's some... little papers around?]

[Papers?]

Evidence! Back off! Police time!

[She'll waddle on over to check them out. What's on the papers?]

[Each one of them has a circle drawn on it with some sort of symbol inside the circle.]

[Darn it, Adorabat should have talked to Luz more than just the once! She doesn't understand this weird art. Ugh, fine. She'll get her black bunny, Simon Norwell, out and have him flip the papers over. Anything on the back of the papers?]

But...someone is dead. Luz is dead when she didn't deserve it. And now they need to figure things out.

So. First things first, since no one else can, Dylan will...do something he'll probably regret.

Any notable scents...other than the blood?]

[Sadly, no. Just Luz. The scent of blood is overwhelming.]

[He swallows down any bile before it can come out. This is horrible. This is one of the worst things he could experience. It is terrible. Awful. Horrible. No good. Very bad.

And he knows it's about to get worse.

He goes up to Luz's corpse, next to Edward.

Anything immediately off he can notice?]

[Since he's looking for it... Dylan, you probably know how humans usually wear their shoes, right?

Something is off about Luz's feet.]

[For the most part, yes.

Are they on the wrong feet? Is she missing a shoe?]

[He hesitates, because the body's presence makes this a crime scene which should not be disturbed, but it still feels wrong to just... leave her like this. Crumpled and discarded.

But sure, he'll start by searching for the cause of death.]

[There's a stab wound to her chest that certainly would have been fatal.]

[Oh that's great. Edward is used to murderers, but the thought of one of the children here being the one who did that is still kind of sickening. He does not look at all happy, but shall continue.

How large is the wound? Is there any weapon that has showed up that readily resembles the dimensions?]

[It's not large but it looks like it could have been done by some sort of bladed weapon. There's a few things that could matched it, yes.]

[Hm, he may come back to that in a bit. It appears to be the dimensions of some kind of knife or scissors, then?

It's hard to judge much about the shape of the wound in these conditions, and so first he checks the rest of her body. Any sign of defense wounds on her hands or arms? Does she have blood under her fingernails, like she scratched her attacker?]

[As mentioned he's keeping an eye on the body, watching as Edward gets to work. But like, he's here if people want him for whatever reason.]

[ Well. Uh. Hunter is officially horrified. We are actually investigating a murder, which probably means someone finally snapped.

Not a fun time for anyone!

At least Hunter has come to trust Yuta enough to talk to him. ]

So... What now?

[Still keeping an eye on Edward's movements.]

We have to look for clues and figure out who the killer is. If they get away with it, all of us die.

[Hey, Yuuta. Keeping an eye on things? That body certainly isn't going anywhere.

But there is a flash of movement from the entrance of the gym... and a frantically hooting owl alights in the air over Luz before landing on the floor and plodding over to her body.]

Uhhh what just happened.

He glances one last time to make sure Edward's doing as he should before crouching down to take a look at the owl.]

Um...

[What happened is a bird just flew into the gym and is now cooing at the body of his (former) owner in the owl approximation of emotional distress. Gently nudging his head into her shoulder to try and wake her up because this isn't funny.

Not at all.]

[...No, it really isn't.]

Hey. She's, um...

[Should he even bother talking?? It's an owl, after all.

...But then again it knew enough to find her and understand something's wrong, so...

After a moment of hesitation, he crouches down and tries to offer his hands out to it, cupped like a sort of platform, should he be able to coax it to him.]

...She's gone.
