WEEK THREE

Two weeks, two trials, four deaths.

One thing is certain: The monster in charge of this place knows enough about everyone here that he also knows what can drive some of them desperate enough to kill. He is powerful, and he has access, and he despises the whole student body. The face of the class' captor has been revealed now, in a sense, and the flames of his hatred for children have turned out to be very real.

At least, for now, the students of Ira Academy have one another to lean on. Some might have found the post-trial camaraderie a comfort. At least everyone hasn't given up hope. At least many students are still finding their anger and their will to fight back.

There are fewer pretenses this coming week. Classes proceed as normal; the school day still functions as normal, but the further everyone comes from that first fateful meeting with the man in charge of this school, the further away and more incomprehensible the thought that there was ever really a chance of going along with the original plan, completing reeducation, and staying safe.


...Of course, you could still try. There'd be nothing stopping you.

But you won't, will you? That's just how the students of Ira Academy are. You'll visit the third floor of the Academy, ascending the newly opened flight of stairs. Maybe you'll investigate one of the new rooms, dwarfed by the echoes that bounce of the uninvitingly tall ceilings. There's probably still something in this place on your side.

Will you work together, or will you grow further apart?

Welcome to Week 3! New locations have been added and the third floor is now open for exploration. The library is a very large space and more than one person can investigate it throughout the week if you'd like. If you want to investigate one of the Floor 3 rooms, please hit the mods with a ping in Discord and put INVESTIGATE in your subject line.

As a reminder, AC runs Sunday to Sunday concurrent with these posts and is collected based on the prior week; this means you have a whole week to get in AC for the week prior. AC for week 2 should be submitted no later than this coming Sunday. Remember to submit your regains, and sign up for a spot exploring this week's mystery if you want to!

Rations and Stuff

I didn't really eat much of my stuff because I'd usually stuff myself with the cafeteria, so...

I don't like licorice, but I guess I don't have much of a choice here. I'm not exactly a fan of candy corn either, so, I guess we're all lucky I didn't eat too much by now... Coffee's probably redundant with the tap water still working, so...

All right, that's good. Guess I'm not the only one. I think I might have some coffee too?

I know it will depend on how much we have in the pile by the end of the meeting, but do you have any idea how we're going to split and ration the stuff?

Yeah, I got somethin' of an idea.

We've got eighteen people to feed right now, so everything'll be divided up that way. Littler kids'll get a bit more, and...depending on what else we get, we might be able to ration a little food for the animals.

It won't be much for anyone, though. We're talkin', like, two peanuts and one half licorice a piece deals with little kids gettin, like. A full piece of licorice.

Right... We'll have to focus on finding a way of getting out of here or offing Father ASAP. The last thing I want to do is get to the point we need to take the "last resort".

Exactly.

[Maybe the monsters are meaty-]

Outside of climbin' the fence, though...has anyone even found a way out?

If we even WANT to escape through fence, we'd have to do it fast before the sheepbot can grab us, and before we're too starving to do anything. We'll have to arm ourselves and give those self-defense courses on the fly. But most importantly, we have to not be afraid.

Right. That's right. I'm not afraid personally. I can handle it easy!

And maybe figure out how to fireproof stuff while we're at it, in case Father tries to chase us.

And take whatever extinguishers there are in the school. It'd be useful against him and for distracting monsters.

Yeah, and maybe some stuff from the science lab. I'm sure there's somethin' nasty that can be cooked up that they wouldn't like.

I don't have to eat more than other people, but... if I find any bugs for people to eat, I can give them to y'all.

...If there's bugs around here, that is.

Huh. Has anyone seen bugs around here?

Uh. I have this random bucket of worms? Can't believe we might end up eating em' after all...

We still have some plants, right? The herbivorous animals can also eat from those even if we can't.

Also, I don't mind eating a little less.

It's gonna be a lot less. Whatever you get's gotta last all day.

I mean, I don't mind being one of the people to get smaller rations.

Oh, so y'all got that, too.

[She gets out a couple of bags of coffee and sets them next to Dewey's pile.]

There should be some nutrients in the coffee, right? Isn't it a plant?

_{[He's now reading off the back of the bag and then showing it to Emma.]} Mostly caffeine. 2.4 calories. 3.8 mg of sodium. 0.3 grams of protein. 118mg of potassium. 7.2mg of magnesium.

I'm pretty sure most of those are important. We should be doing our best to keep balanced meals too.

Yeah, they are, but we're probably going to have to live on just shots the way things are...
