WEEK THREE

Two weeks, two trials, four deaths.

One thing is certain: The monster in charge of this place knows enough about everyone here that he also knows what can drive some of them desperate enough to kill. He is powerful, and he has access, and he despises the whole student body. The face of the class' captor has been revealed now, in a sense, and the flames of his hatred for children have turned out to be very real.

At least, for now, the students of Ira Academy have one another to lean on. Some might have found the post-trial camaraderie a comfort. At least everyone hasn't given up hope. At least many students are still finding their anger and their will to fight back.

There are fewer pretenses this coming week. Classes proceed as normal; the school day still functions as normal, but the further everyone comes from that first fateful meeting with the man in charge of this school, the further away and more incomprehensible the thought that there was ever really a chance of going along with the original plan, completing reeducation, and staying safe.


...Of course, you could still try. There'd be nothing stopping you.

But you won't, will you? That's just how the students of Ira Academy are. You'll visit the third floor of the Academy, ascending the newly opened flight of stairs. Maybe you'll investigate one of the new rooms, dwarfed by the echoes that bounce of the uninvitingly tall ceilings. There's probably still something in this place on your side.

Will you work together, or will you grow further apart?

Welcome to Week 3! New locations have been added and the third floor is now open for exploration. The library is a very large space and more than one person can investigate it throughout the week if you'd like. If you want to investigate one of the Floor 3 rooms, please hit the mods with a ping in Discord and put INVESTIGATE in your subject line.

As a reminder, AC runs Sunday to Sunday concurrent with these posts and is collected based on the prior week; this means you have a whole week to get in AC for the week prior. AC for week 2 should be submitted no later than this coming Sunday. Remember to submit your regains, and sign up for a spot exploring this week's mystery if you want to!

[Adorabat turns to the briefcase, angel wing still in her mouth.]

[She blinks, only realizing and taking the angel wings out of her mouth.]

Why, of course! This is a super serious business briefcase filled with brilliant business secrets! I once brought it to Waddle when I was competing with my brother Huey for an internship there! _{[He gestured as he held the briefcase in one hand, trying to take Adorabat's attention away from her hunger and towards his story.]}

[Hey, Aorabat's trying her best here.]

You were competing with your brother? Aren't brothers and sisters apposed ta get along?

[Dewey isn't her real brother, but she gets along with him very well.]

Eh... There's nothing wrong with a bit of competition every now and then? But, that's not important right now!

One day, Uncle Scrooge took Huey and me to the Duckberg Billionaires Club, and there, we met the CEO of Waddle, Mark Beaks. Huey was sorta fanboying over Mark Beaks, and I was like, "like I couldn't be a young influential business guy!" And then Huey was like, "hahaha, oh, oh you're serious", and then I got all, "Hey, I could be a bigger deal than Beaks in three years tops!" That's when Mark Beaks came out of the room my uncle and his enemy were having a staring contest, and then we both tried to get his attention, and he offered us an internship!

That's when I grabbed this briefcase out of the lobby of the club with the intent to show it off to Beaks. That place needs better security.

[violence_ensues]

...You mean you stole it?

More like... _{[He looked at the dial lock for the briefcase, seeing the face of...]} Borrowed it from Uncle Scrooge's enemy Glomgold. Without permission. Because you don't need permission to take things from guys who repeatedly plot to kill your uncle.

[violence_ensues]

[...That's fair, seeing as she goes toe to toe with the sky pirates on a frequent basis and she beats them up.]

Why doesn't your uncle just call the police? Or beat up Glomgold?

Trust me, Uncle Scrooge does beat Glomgold. All the time. Sometimes he doesn't even need to do anything to Glomgold himself, he just lets Glomgold do something stupid that makes himself lose.

[violence_ensues]

But doesn't it feel much better hearing the pained groans of your enemies? Sure, the Sky Pirates always say they're okay after, but it's still fun!

...You worry me sometimes, but most of the time, we don't fight hand-to-hand against threats, but with our wits. Strategy, teamwork, quick thinking, that's what my family is known for. Brute forcing it is a last resort for us.

Oh! Mao Mao and me and Badgerclops use teamwork and strategy, too! It's how we've made all sortsa cool team moves, too. And I'm very good at crowd control and getting the other Sweetypies to run away from danger... most of the time.

[The Sweetypies can be a little... a LOT... slow on the uptake at times.]

...I know how you feel about monsters, but... all the monsters in Pure Heart Valley can't understand words. Badgerclops tried raising one when it was a baby, but it kept on destroying the town. He shoulda let me squish it before it grew up and caused more problems.

I guess it's different where I come from... Not every monster we meet is a dragon who only wants to eat gold. A lot of them are much smarter than that.

I guess the reason I say there's monsters that don't want nothing but destruction is because I'm friends with a monster. Manny, the Headless Man Horse.

[Adorabat holds one wing with the other.]

...Emma suggested the word "creature". Would that be okay?

Maybe...? He isn't just a "creature" to me though. He's smart. He could talk using his hoofsteps before he got his head back, he worked with Dr. Gearloose... When I hear "creature" I think of an animal.

I guess I could just call him a gargoyle, but...

Gargoyle it is!

[The mun apologizes for Adorabat's behavior.]

So how'd you first meet Glomgold?

[lets_dewey_it]

_{[Well... at least it looked like his distraction was working.]}

Oho, yeah, I first met Glomgold when Uncle Scrooge took my sibs, Webby, and myself to find the Jewel of Atlantis! Scrooge and I had just gotten to the treasure room, and Glomgold and his hired thugs had my Uncle Donald in their clutches as he grabbed a bright red jewel!

[violence_ensues]

[And it's a good thing it's working, too! A sad Adorabat is sad for everyone.]

And then what happened!? TELL ME! TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME!

As Glomgold held my Uncle Donald hostage, he escaped with the red jewel before the door to the treasure room slammed shut and the room flooded! We tried everything we could think of, but nothing could stop the room from flooding!

That's when I saw it, at the top of the room, a blue jewel.

[Blue jewel...?]

There were two of 'em? How'd you escape...?

There's something I neglected to mention... When it sunk, Atlantis was flipped upside-down!

So I realized that the entire treasure room was upside-down! I thought it was weird! An innocuous blue jewel just surrounded by all that treasure, while the Jewel of Atlantis was on top of the ceiling...

And then it hit me...

The blue jewel was the real Jewel of Atlantis!

That's when it hit me and Scrooge to let the whole room flood so we could float up and grab the jewel from the ceiling! Uncle Donald was reluctant at first, but... Soon, we were all going up with the water, grabbing as tight as we could and pulling it down! And that caused all the water in the room to drain and the treasure room door to open!

[violence_ensues]

[What a twist! Adorabat is completely enamored in the story.]

WOOOW! That sounded so cool! I'm jealous! Mao Mao's stuck inside Pure Heart Valley cuz he swore to protect it after cracking the Ruby Pure Heart. I'd never be able to go on adventures like that.

...But a hero does what's right, even when it crushes them inside!

Well, even if you aren't just going out of your home much, I'm sure you still have lots of fun and wacky events there. I have plenty of stories for things that happened in Scrooge's mansion or in Duckberg.

That's true,. Even in Pure Heart Valley, Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and me have already made lotsa memories. OOH OOH! Wanna hear about the Badge-a-Fire Explosion?
