WEEK TWO

Two weeks is plenty of time to get used to a new school, but the horrors of Ira Academy are likely to require much more acclimation than that. The lesson learned this weekend may be more important than anything else taught thus far: Regardless of motivation, regardless of friendliness, regardless of heroism, any member of the student body could turn out to be a killer.

Starting this week, the immovable, impenetrable glass wall blocking the staircase by the first aid station has receded. Students are free to go up the stairs beyond that wall and leave the ground floor of the school for the first time.

The new area that opens up in the Academy couldn't come at a better time. Past the landing, where a new ascending flight of stairs now waits behind another thick impenetrable wall of glass, the second floor greets students with muted, calming colors. The rooms in this area of the school house activities targeted at calming, freeing, or emptying the mind. After witnessing such terrible things on Saturday, it would be lovely to clear such thoughts away entirely, wouldn't it?

On Monday, classes will resume as normal, as if the student body had not undergone recent and horrific attrition. At least there are a fair few more places to hide now that the next floor has opened up, and it might be easier to avoid the Little Brothers trying to herd you into the classroom every now and then. It would be easy to let unease and paranoia reign over everyone. Perhaps, come Tuesday again, there will be another announcement from the Principal, holding another threat over everyone's head until the right person snaps and attempts the optional capstone project. There may be another mysterious phenomenon to follow through the school, seeking a hint of meaning or answers. Of course, you could all give up and choose re-education.

OOC NOTES

Welcome to Week 2. The Prefect has been removed from play until further notice and will no longer be able to be contacted. Mod Shay will continue to work for the game on an administrative level. ICly, the Principal will mention vaguely that the Prefect has been removed from her duties for the foreseeable future. The IC rules will be updated to reflect this and that's how the characters will find out. The sheep will take up her work monitoring the school and have their own contact post, and the A/V room is still locked. While you're free to question this ICly, please be mindful of others and try not to push the issue either ICly or OOCly. This isn't related to the plot and shouldn't be treated as such.

As a reminder, AC runs Sunday to Sunday concurrent with these posts and is collected based on the prior week; this means you have a whole week to get in AC for the week prior. AC for week 1 should be submitted no later than this coming Sunday. Remember to submit your regains! Also, if you want to investigate put INVESTIGATE on your subject line, please!

[Yasu's in the art room when it hits her like a ton of bricks.

The sudden plethora of art supplies in contrast to the dearth she was subjected to before put Yasu in even more of a doodling mood than usual... or, rather, painting mood. She sat herself down in front of a canvas, humming cheerily as she mixed watercolors, occasionally opening her grimoire to get references of the wispy green prince and the beautiful masked girl that she's painting, and-

She stops short, remembering several things in quick succession as she looks upon her completed work.

Several mentions of one "Amity" from Luz.

Talks with Yuta.

Talks with someone else.

It all clicks into place.]

...oh no, [Yasu whines, sinking down her stool as she realizes.] Oh no, oh no, oh no...

Did I... really... oh noooo....

[The "nos" at least sound more like they're deriding her own abject stupidity for failing to realize sooner than anything else, but Yasu is going to keep spiraling anyways.]

[Sonic is still working on his, uh, secret project when he comes in and-]

Uh--Yasu?

You ok there, kid?

[Yasu squeaks when Sonic pokes his head into the art room, jumping a full six inches out of her stool. Her embarrassment-blush turns into a panic blush as she tries to spin around, loses her balance, and falls, tumbling head over heels.]

I- I- I'm, er, um, f- fine, really, I am, d- don't worry about me! [she says as she clumsily picks herself back up.]

W-woah!

[Well, here's a hand if you need one.]

No offense, kid, but you're not exactly actin' fine...

I... I, um...

[Yasu can be a good liar. Now is not one of those times. She wilts under Sonic's concern, unable to look him in the eye.]

I just... realized something e- embarrassing. That's all.

Oh, uh...really? You seemed more upset than embarrassed, but...I mean, if you're really ok...

Honestly, I- I'm mostly just astounded at how thick I've been acting...

Look, I'll be honest, you were way better at the whole investigation thing than I was.

[That's why she's freaking out, right? She's still freaking out, right????]

Actually...I was kinda wondering if I could ask you about giving me some tips about that.

[yes that is ABSOLUTELY why she's freaking out thanks for the lifeline sonic

At his question, Yasu straightens herself out and cocks her head to the side.]

I, um, mainly just read a lot of mystery novels... I'm n- not really a professional. Are you sure you want to ask me?

Fine! Fine fine fine, I'm, um, just- just, um- looking for an excuse-

Yasu hangs her head in shame as soon as she realizes that she said that out loud.]

[Yasu just. Groans and lays her head on the table facedown. Normally she's a better liar than this,,,

Well. In for a penny, in for a pound.]

Um... Yuta? Do you remember that... conversation... we had last week?

[keyringwitness]

The. Um. Th- that one.

[yasu you're not really helping him narrow it down here]

[She's really not. Let's see, what would get Yasu this worked up?]

The one about your drawings?

[keyringwitness]

[The way she's burying her head deeper in her hands and vocalizing something akin to "mmph" is probably an indication that Yuta's on the mark.]

[Man, everyone is acting in concerning ways today. Emma reaches out to tap Yasu on the arm, using her other hand to sign.]

Are you okay?

P- Peachy, yes, Emma, t- thank you, um, er,

[oh god she's looking right at the painting and the painting isn't incriminating in of itself but it's still embarrassing yasu feels like she's going to spontaneously combust]

[Emma looks over at the painting, nodding somewhat approvingly.]

It looks good! Who are they? [She's assuming they're from some fictional book, right now.]

A- Ah, um... characters that... I made...

[One is technically a- you know what, Yasu isn't even going to argue that distinction with herself, considering all the realizations that she just mentally tumbled through.]

Oh, well, they look really pretty! Are they from a fairytale? [They have the right aesthetic for it, after all.]

K- Kinda.

[It's more complicated than that for the music-themed girl, but the exact reasons why that is are going to be hard to pry out of Yasu.]

[Emma failing to understand what she means motivates Yasu to talk more about her "OCs," at least.][Since her last idea now seems silly, Yasu gropes for a random name and eventually lands on,] Clair, and the girl in the mask is, uh...
